Interior painting instructions for AMT's Custom Pumper STK #6669

Help, after looking for this particular model of the American LaFrance Custom Pumper to replace the one that I built for a while; I was finally able to find it, however when I got it, I found out that it was missing one important thing. THE PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE INTERIOR PARTS, such as the cab, pump motor, and engine, etc. Oh, it does show how to paint the exterior but I need to detail these interior parts.

is this the one with a red left side truck picture and it says matchbox along the bottom

I’m not sure, but the part of the instructions I do have say AMT/Ertl stk #6669 Custom Pumper. I had to throw the box away because of water and mold damage. If I remember correctly the picture was of the left side and if you looked closer it stated on the door of the Truck “City of Troy” however I’m planning on depicting her as a Pumper in the service of Elmira, NY which just happens to the home of American LaFance and she’ll be painted in that city fire equipment 'Chrome Yellow".

if all your decals are goldish and there are som for baltimore, city of troy, elmira than it’s the same kit and my instructions don’t say. i would suspect from looking at my squadron book, the interior is the same color as the exterior. i may have to vosit my local fire station for some pics.

Thanks, man. I did some checking on my own and found out that the interior is a light gray. While the engine’s color is dependent on the make of the engine, I believe this particular model has a Detroit Diesel, and the pump and other motors are Flat black.

Sarge: ALF’s of that era had the pumps painted in the base exterior color. The motor could also be painted in the exterior color or the manufacturer’s color (ie. CAT yellow, Detroit Diesel pale green, Cummins tan or red.) Now for the interior, it was rather sparse/spartan, with the roof and partition the exterior color, the rest in black with the diamond plate floor either a bare flat aluminum or black. I almost forgot…frames were a rust-resistant black.

Thanks Greg, these will help me in detailing the two ALF Ladder trucks: the Aero Chief and Ladder Chief. However, these two will need some extra work on the ladder systems in order to display them in the extended mod! John

Sounds from the description like you may have gotten one of the older kits. If the box is mostly white with the left side of truck showing. The kit I am getting is one of the re-release kits with better box art

Mine may not be historically accurate when done but I think I’m gonna go light gray. It might make the cab details easier to see from through the windows. Also ordered custom radio stack, lights and sirens from Dave Parsley, doing cab body two-tone, red below chrome strip and white on top. Also going to make hose from from yellow tape and cardboard straps inside
