german’s we’re white but it would be of f some time’s MAN it’s early anyway US stuff white on hatch’s OD i’m giong to get some more coffee. there is more to say but my kid had me up all night.

German tank interiors, early in the war, were painted in an off white (light tan) color known as eifelbein. However, areas such as the subfloor, turret basket etc… were painted in german gray. Sometimes the engine compartment was left in red primer color. Later in the war, tank interiors were left in red primer to expedite production.

Virtually all US Armor is finished with a semi-gloss white. Be sure and don’t repeat the error of many modeler, painting the open hatch interiors white. They should be finished as your exterior basecoat.

Although he references some obscure contemporary paints, this is my favorite (and most accurate that I’ve found) article on Panzer colors:
For our models any off white or light buff color will do the job.
Interiors can look amazing with careful dusting with light grey and earth pastels and extreme chipping with black,dark brown and primer color
