I’m getting ready to start a Pz.Kpfw .I Ausf.A it is a Dragon Smart kit with interior what is the right interior color to use. I was thinking German Lt. Olive or white? Thanks for your input guys Aceses5[^o)][*-)]
The color was called Elfenbein, think light beige or buff. I believe MM makes the color.

Yes, it is MM #2104 “Panzer Interior Buff”. It is much more pale than Tamiya XF 57, closer to Tamiya XF 55 “Deck Tan” if acrylic is your paint of choice (unfortunately MM does not make Panzer Interior Buff in acrylic, only enamel.)

The available interior photos in Panzer Tracts 1-1 indicate that the floor was also Elfenbein. Most likely due to the fact that the Pz I was so small to begin with.
I’ve done minimal interior work but I like the off white / Ivory finish if no correct refernce is available.
For the floors I use primer red.

Is possible that in the early days of WWII up to 1943, the interiors were painted in a better and neater fashion. I suspect the red oxide primer floors and grey green primer used on some interior components were due to saving time and paint in the mid to late war years.
Orders on painting what and when changed throughout the war. Some were expediency measures aimed at saving time and materials, others were aimed at crew suggestions/requirements, while still others were vehicle specific depending on the type in question. Once the vehicles started getting larger and more complex obviously the rules also changed along with them.
As the war got further along and conditions worsened, the emphasis was on speeding up production and a lot of things that used to be done as standard were scrapped. Sometimes they went too far such as the order to leave the interiors in all-red-oxide and the crews complaining that the interiors were too dark and that reduced their fighting capability…causing them to revert back to elfenbein usage after a few months.
Model Master does make an Panzer Interior Buff color in acrylic #4805, I used it to paint the interior of my Tamiya Sd.Kfz 222.
