what if any on the nieuport 17 (rpm, altitude, etc.)
Mark Miller, a WWI enthusiast, has some excellent photo-realistic computer renderings of the Nieuport 17 that he’s done here:

You can see all the structural details of the plane exceptionally well in his artwork.
The cockpit really only has: a glass bulb that would pulse with gasoline to show that the fule is flowing properly; a tachometer, an altimeter, and a compass (which I think is mounted on the floor).
You can see an actual cockpit photo here:

thanks Drew, that help immensly
Also, don’t forget the one mounted on the upper wing, just in front of the pilot’s face. I don’t know its function, but it’s there.

Hey Tom,
I think that may be a mirror.
Regards,
That’s would make sense. I hadn’t thought of a mirror. On the Nieuport 17 I just finished the other day, I was taking Eduard’s word for it when they provided a decal with an instrument face on it for that little round PE piece on the top wing. But then, as good as their WW I kits are, such things as markings, colors and details like that well, you just can’t trust them. Looks like I better take your word for it and cover it with Bare Metal Foil.
Thanks.
TOM
Don’t move too fast, I misspoke:

If it’s the instrument you’re talking about, I think it’s the fuel gauge – right under the telecopic sight.
