I saw these go for $25 at a recent contest by a vendor…and that was before price haggling began…
That would indeed be a “steal”.
Did you not pick one up?
$25.00!
Yowza, I will take a few!
Gotta love those vendors at contests! I did pick up a $30 kit for $10 last Friday at IPMS…[whstl]
Manny posting in the armor forum… now that’s insane!
And there was no mention of 229 in his post either. [;)]
It was crazy…
A couple of things:
-
Dragon must have really overestimated the market for these *MOJO’s…
-
I bet $25 wouldn’t even cover the cost of the kit…
-
Didn’t they originally go for $229?
- That’s MOJO with a “J”, not with an “F”…If it was with an “F” then people would think I was referring to that bad word that rhymes with “sucker”, and I’m not. I repeat, I’m not.
When they first came out they were in the $80-$100 range…then dropped to $70…then dropped again over time as they were less and less the “in thing” in terms of mold quality. I built one in 2006, still have it (had to wait a looooong time for the turned aluminum barrel to clear Candian customs and get delivered here in the US, I’m sure it caused quite a bit of head-scratching since it was rifled!)…it’s a monster of a kit and to get it for that price is definitely a bargain.
Thats still a bad mama-jama! I’d buy as many as possible and feed them into evil bay. If you do what most of the vendors there do, by underpricing the kit and catching the unwary buyer with inflated shipping; you’d kill.
I got a package from Hong Kong today (around 20-30 stamps). Customs got curious and opened it up. I think they were disappointed because they scrawled ‘model kit’ across the little receipt thing. Scrawled is an optimistic description of the handwriting. Now if it had been a real SA-2 w/Launcher, I’d probably have gotten some interesting remarks.
I now recall my bud M1-Carbine winning one in a raffle at the IMPS show last year. Nice prize.
Where the heck is M1-Carbine (Bob)? I miss him! I would buy it if it is really being sold for less… maybe it will show up at next show here in March.
Hahaha… I had the same experience. I ordered a number of kits from Hong Kong (MAZ w/ trailer, Chinese tank transpo and a Hobby Boss Super Pershing and something else… can’t remember) the box was about the size of a small dorm fridge and the whole top was covered in stamps! ![]()
I have seen that Karl on deep sale in a lot of places. Apparently a lot of stock left over. I considered buying one but upon seeing one in person I decided not to. Just isn’t up to snuff (in my opinion) and I don’t have enough interest in it to spent the money and time fixing it up.
He’s been busy training in computer stuff. It’s all to confusing for me to explain. I just work on them, I don’t wan’t to know what makes them tick. LOL
