Information on Ansaldo Fiat L6 Semovente

Does anyone know where I can find some information on the Ansaldo Fiat L6 Semovente?

I’ve got a few pictures in “The Encyclopedia of German Tanks”, and after that just the occasional shots scattered in several books, but nothing indepth.

I would love some additional pictures. In particular anything on the interior.

Thanks!

i can only find this http://www.wwiivehicles.com/html/italy/SelfPropelledGuns.htm

Thanks for the link Captain.

I’ve got most of the unit markings down pat and the color scheme.
I’m trying to find information on the interior. Color, etc. I’m also looking for some photos which show some of the outside details better. All the photo’s I’ve got are not of the best quality.

Once again, thanks for the help.

are these anygood, i think its an upgunned model?

Thanks for the link Jon.

There are some great pictures of the Bassotto, but I didn’t see any on the L6 version.

I appreciate your help. There has to be something on this little guy somewhere.

Another set of good links. Thanks for sharing.

Latch - you may want to check this site out

http://www.cavalleriaitaliana.it

It’s the only link I have but you will be redirected to the new home page pf this site.
Hope you’ve brushed up on your Italian !!!

Thanks Robert, That helped.

My Italian stops at Spahgetti.[:D]

The one picture I found is better than all the pictures I have now. It looks like it is a command version because it actually has a radio (or at least the antenna).

What is that thing on the rear plate. It looks like some kind of pipe/tube. Knowing Itailian armor it could be anything from a base for a radio antenna to a fuel fill access.

If you e-mail the webmaster there … his name is Fabio and he posts here occasionally, he’s just a wealth of information on Italian Armour and can probably answer quite a few of your questions. Good thing is his English is probably better than mine. His e-mail addy is on the site.

Thanks Robert.

I really appreciate it.

Latch,
pse feel free to e-mail me with your questions about the “Semovente da 47/32 su scafo L40”. It’s not easy to find pics of the interiors of them as far as in Italy there is no one left. I think you’ve got one of the two still existing at the Aberdeen Proving Gound (if I’m not wrong). It’s re-painted in white instead of sand yellow but interiors should be there.
As far as I know the only one kit available to date is the one from (http://www.crielmodel.it). I’ve got it but I didn’t build it yet. What I built is their L6/40 from which the Semovente has been derived.

If you want to see more of it you can follow this link:
http://www.armorama.com/modules/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=12069&si=&page=1&sort=8&perpage=10&password=&ppuser=1213&stype=0

On my site http://www.cavalleriaitaliana.it follow the link “Mezzi” then “Carri Leggeri” then L6/40. I’ve recently added some new pics.

For the Semovente I’ll be pleased to help you as much as I can.

For Robert: thanks for your nice words (as usual)

Right on cue Fabio … good to see you here again !!!

Thanks I really appreciate it.

I’m in the middle of building the Criel kit and just wanted to verify some of the more questionable items I’m seeing in the interior.

I’ll send you an email with a list of the questions Fabio. Thank you so much for the help.

And Robert and Jon, thanks for all of your help too.

Thanks Robert and Fabio. The links are great.

Latch,
I’ve got your message. I’ll start working on it asap.

Thanks Scoccia,

I really appreciate your help.

Latch,
I’ve started digging in the documentation and I’ll answer precisely your 1 & 2 questions soon.

3. In one of the photos supplied on the thread it shows an L6/40 from the rear. There is a “pipe” leading from the lower rear plate to above the top of the engine compartment. What is this?
Can you insert the pic you mention in this thread too so I can identify it?

Any heads up on the Criel kit that I need to be aware of?
Be very careful with the tracks because they’re very delicate. What I suggest is to take them off the sprue, clean them and start putting them together starting from the sprocket. To glue the links use a pin dipped in superglue being careful not to glue them to the sprocket. Once you’ve done do the same around the idler, then start to put together the straight link lenghts on a flat surface being sure to line them up properly (you can find helpful to use a loop of low tack tape). Once the glue dies take the tracks sections off the sprocket and the idler and paint them together with the straight ones as sub assemblies that you will put together later on on the suspensions. To avoid surprises do not glue the suspensions to the lower hull until you will put the tracks on. Once everything is in place you can gently heat up with an hair dryer the tracks where you want to show a bit of sag. In this case use a toothpick to gently press the heated trach to give it the sag.

I hope to be back to you asap

Latch,
Question 1: the interiors are completely white as you can see from the attached pics.
Question 2: yes it’s the fuel tank

Scoccia,

Thanks so much.

Why do the rounds of ammo look white too? What is the color of the ammo suppose to be? The other pictures I have of 47mm Italian ammo don’t look white?

Once again, Thanks so much for the help.

Scoccia,

This is the site where I saw the picture. It is a 3/4 end view of the L6. I cannot access the site anymore, so I don’t know what is happening. I just keep getting the dreaded X-Box.

Thanks for the help!!!
