After watching a clip of the Memphis Belle PR documentary (it wasn’t the first to do 25 missions which Air Classics can’t seem to recognize, but I digress), I saw a stack of small yellow bombs in the 91st BG bomb dump. Bombs weren’t painted yellow after April 42 IIRC from HVH so I wanted to find out what their size and nomenclature, but I haven’t been able to crack Wiki or find any other info. Is there any other good sites available?

Have a look there, looks like yellow bands are for smoke bombs

you could contact Phillip at replicainscale@yahoo.com (his addy is attached to each public blog entry)
ask him if he could email you a copy of the Replica in Scale “US bomb guide”,it covers from the beginning of US biplanes up to about 10 years ago or so,and includes some “bomb color, stencil color, and stripe color” guides for each broad time period
Thanks Phil for this. It was right under my nose as I go to the 303rd site all the time as my uncle did 20 missions with the 427th BS, then 5 with the 482nd BG. Those yellow bombs I saw must have been pre-war 100 or 300 lb bombs seen in 1943.
