Info on Meirkraft

All,

Can anyone provide any insight/info on Meirkraft Models? I came across a F6u-F1 Pirate limited edition kit and was thinking of grabbing it. Is this outfit any good?

Thanks, all!
Brian

Sorry, Brian. Never heard of them. - Calvin

Calvin,

Thanks for the response - I never heard of them either, but they are limited run kits, for tthe “advanced modeler”. Probably over mu head! Brian

Personally, I have never heard of this company. If the price isn’t too expensive, why not buy it and build it. If it is a good kit, then you have made a good deal. If it is a bad kit, you have learned from the experience of working hard to put it together. That would add to your knowledge and abilities.

Yardbird,

Thanks for the advice, I did just that ($12.00), and I’ll let everyone know what the beast looks like! Thanks to all for the responses!

I think you mean Meikraft?

Anyhoo, ‘beast’ is the right word. These were some of the first cottage industry kits made here in the USA. Very limited run and very… limited… all way 'round…

They’re quite ugly, even by yesterday’s standards and they will take a good deal of work to clean up, never mind assemble. If you have a good bit of experience in modeling you should have little trouble.

$12 is a good deal, though. These are considered collectors items these days and often times go for much more. I sold one each of their D-558 and FF-1 kits on evilbay and got $27 for the D-558 (despite there being no box!) and $43 for the FF-1.

Here’s a look at the box of the FF-1 and the parts of the D-558…

Again, you got a good deal…
