Info on Cmdr Ecker's RF-8 VFP-62

Hi, this may be an easy one (but I can’t find it) . . .

Can someone please inform me on Cmdr William Ecker’s VFP-62 Cuban Missile Crisis:

  • RF-8’s model, BuNo., and Tail Code,
  • a brief airframe history of this craft, and
  • if an aftermarket decal sheet exists.

I’ve seen that C&H Aero Miniatures also make a resin RF8 conversion kit for the 1/48 Monogram F-8E kit. And there’s the usual resin sets (cockpits, intakes, wheel-bays, etc).

Osprey published “RF-8 Crusader Units over Cuba and Vietnam” back in the 90s. It is still available. I dont know if this book has this particular individual aircraft in it, but it would be a good place to start.

Thanks mate. I didn’t think about looking at Osprey, even though I have a few of them on my shelf. I have now scored one of Ebay.
