Im wondering. Are the AM tracks like modelcasten fruil etc. Are they easier to put together than kit indys?
Well you’ve asked a good question, unfortunately there isn’t a simple answer. Let’s begin with ModelKasten. Plastic with much crisper and accurate details that the kit indies, with assembly and glue to deal with. Some prefer plastic tracks, the quality is good, the assembly and posing can be just as challenging (if not more) than the kit indies.
Fruilmodel- The main advantage is the realistic “sag” and the full flexibility after assembly that the heavy metal can offer. Assembly is relatively easy, I use straight pins to join the links and can put together a whole run in about twenty minutes. The great thing about the Fruils’ is that you don’t have to worry about posing them on the model.
I use Fruilmodel at every opportunity and I am pleased with them, even though they are expensive (ModelKasten are a little cheaper).
Hope this helps you,
Steve
Thinks crockett. So the fruil dont have to be glued and they are metal?
With Friuls you have to glue one end of the pin/wire that you use to connect the individual links together with. All it takes is little drop of super-glue to do the job. I just did my first set of Friuls on a Tamiya Wespe. They look very good with a realistic sag. The only drawback that Friuls have is their cost.

I have really been spoiled by the Fruil tracks, and as Steve, and Glen mentioned, they are a bit pricey, but I build so few tanks, that I feel the investment is well worth it, and the look is unmistakeable[tup][tup][tup] Semper Fi, Mike
I agree. IOf you want tarcks that are SUPER easy to put together and are still infintely better than kit tracks, try WWII productions. Resin track links, and all you have to do is clean them up and snap them together. Pricey at 40 bucks a set though.
I agree with crockett . With Fruils you get the luxury of assembling the track under a hour or so with realistic sag. The detail is outstanding and hey, its the real deal compared to plastic tracks. The drawbacks to Fruils is as mentioned already, they are a bit on the pricey side, but then again its not like we build tanks at a rate of one a day so thinking about it, the price is not so bad in comparison to the amount of work they will save you compared to plastic individual tracks. If you want to add that special extra something to your build, I would defenetly recommend Fruils. But remember that Fruil
s arent the only game in town. There is a outstanding Polish company that is offering metal tracks which should give Fruil`s some heat.
