Indy tracks

Darnit these indy tracks are givung me so much trouble. I glued them and put them on the tank so I took them off and went to bed, so today I was going to put them permanetly on but when I did the tracks kept cracking off. So how do you put the already broken tracks back on and put indy tracks on from start.

There are a lot of ways to do this, you kind of have to experiment and figure out what works best for you. The type of tank is also a consideration. This is what I’ve done with different models. Working with plastic track blocks. On my Stug III I laid out and glued both upper runs with Testor’s liquid cement. Let it dry about 30 minutes and then installed them on the vehicle. I pushed my sags in etc. then let it all dry over night. Then I did the same with the lower runs. Then I took both runs off and painted them. I used super glue to re-install them on the vehicle. On my Sherman Firefly I put the whole track together (a real pain) then carefully glued it with liquid cement, waited 30 minutes then installed it. When dry I painted it on the vehicle (very time consuming, but looks okay if you’re careful). Remember on a real tank the track is quite fragile and on a model it’s even more so. Careful handling and patience are a must.

I paint my tracks on the sprue. Afterwards, I clean and touch them up. They are then ready for assembly. Time consuming, but the results are worth it.
