This is the old Fujimi 1/72 BAE Hawk, done up as a T. Mk 53 of the 1st training wing of the Indonesian Air Force (Tentara Nasional Indonesia -Angkatan Udara, hence the TNI–AU marking on the wings), ca. 1980.
The kit was simple but nicely molded, with no serious build issues. Lots of room in the nose for the bit of fishing sinker needed to keep it on its nose gear. Not a lot of detail in the cockpit, but not a lot visible with the lid closed. I added a few PE bits from an old Eduard set (straps, HUD frames, canopy mirrors and cockpit panels). The kit comes with wing tanks and the Aden gun pod, and I added the pair of rocket pods from the old Italeri US/NATO Weapons set to fill out the pylons.
I sprayed the Indonesian camouflage scheme with my own mixes of Tamiya acrylics, masked with tape and Silly Putty.
The decals were original to the kit (acquired from Ebay, instructions dated 1983) and were appropriately curmudgeonly: highly resistant to separating from the backing paper, prone to crumbling (even under several layers of Microscale liquid decal film), and generally unwilling to lay down without silvering. (Still a few areas left to fix.)
Not a show-stopper, but great fun to build, and a neat little bird. And (so far) the only a/c in my collection in Indonesian markings. Hope you like it.
