So I’ve heard reports that a 4th installment of Indiana Jones might be on the horizon. They say both Lucas and Spielberg have approved the script and it has been sent to Mr. Harrison Ford himself for final approval. I for one hope its a go, 16 years is much to long to wait [:D]
that report is true…Frank Darabont wrote a script about two years ago that both Lucas and Spielberg didn’t like so it got trashed. Most recently Jeff Nathanson has written one that has met with approval of both the gurus. It is scheduled to begin shooting sometime in 2006.
It prob will suck - anyways like in star wars episode 3 there is many shot types and other things that they did not do in the other movies making them not seem like they are together. The same thing will happen for indy 4 - if they make it - i would rather see lucas make new movies instaed of old characters even thow i really really like indy.
The thing about George Lucas is that when he is just making a B-Grade movie they turn out to be his best movies ever, and when he is trying to make a great movie they aren’t as good as the B-Grade movies. The very original Star Wars movie was made as basically B-Grade. Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi were made as top-notch movies and they weren’t as good as Star Wars. Raiders of the Lost Ark was made as a B-Grade and it was phenomenal. The next 2 movies were made as top-notch but again were not as good as the first. All I can say is that I hope they make Indy 4 with a B-Grade mentality because there have been no classics from Hollywood in quite some time.

I am really begining to think that the 4th Indiana Jones movie is a George Lucas’ version of an inside joke. I’ve been hearing for at least 10 years how he is working on a finding a script and talking to Harrison Ford about it. Harrison Ford is now in his early sixties (I think) and is fairly adamant about doing only one picture a year. Overall, I’m not optimistic about the prospects of seeing Indiana Jones on anything but DVD.
They could easily make a 4th. installment but with Indy playing a lighter roll dealing with topics such as the Water Engine or the N. Tesla’s Coil issues (if you don’t know about these read up on them esp. the Tesla Coil it has some very wild stuff that they discovered on it or other sci-fi topics during the mid '40-50’s. his age would about right, and it will sell. I always wondered why nobody did a movie on the effects of the tesla coil yet!
Hang on there is some man in black at the doo…
LOL[:D] Yeah Nikola Tesla would work for a story line. We haven’t seen much about his work except the Philadelphia experiment…will still haven’t seen much then I guess. The thing with Indy though is in the last movie he and his father drank from the mythical fountain of youth. So really the movie could take place many years later with slower aging than the rest of us. The knight guarding the cup had aged but clearly much slower.
Really though I have to say I’m still looking forward to a new flick. With the Indy movies Spielberg has usually played a stronger hand than Lucas and seems to have a better cinematic eye so if nothing else it should still have that same spirit.
I’m glad I’m not the only person that thinks this movie could potentially bomb. It’s too bad Lucas isn’t looking for something new to produce.
I have less faith in Lucas as i do in Speilberg (looking forward to WOTW). I feel Speilberg likes to move on and try new stuff and I also feel that Lucas’s movies are too CGI heavy with little human emotion. Just my humble opinion folks-don’t wanna step on any toes-Lucas is very good but pales in contrast to Speilberg.
