In The Ft. Bragg Area?

I’m getting activated for a few months and will be at Ft. Bragg for some schools and other stuff. Can you guys tell me where the good hobby shops are in the area around Ft. Bragg, Fayetteville, Raleigh/Durham? Also, are there any model shows, airshows, etc. coming up there in the next 3-4 months?

I appreciate your help. Thanks

Steve

Well, it’s been a little more than 10 years since I was stationed there, but I can tell you that there was a descent hobby shop right off post , but i can’t remember what road it was on. I think it was on the same road as the US Cav store within a couple of blocks of it (if it’s still there) anyway. If it’s not don’t worry I’m sure you’ll be able to find something. Also you may want to check the arts and crafts center on post, I would bet they’d be a big help.

Hi Steve,

In the Fayetteville/Ft. Bragg area, there are two that stand out; The Hobbit Hobby Shop, 6111-a Yadkin Rd Fayetteville, and Hayes Hobby House, http://www.hayeshobby.com/, at EUTAW VILLAGE NORTH, Fayetteville. Both are nice shops, but The Hobbit has a better inventory! [tup] I’ve patronized The Hobbit for 28 years and would recommend it for many reasons, one; their intense selection of reference material (books, etc) in house.

The owner’s name is Al… if ever there was someone who was born to operate a LHS, it’s Al!

Pope Air Force Base has an Open House each year that is usually VERY good, but alas, it’s held in May. [:(]

Take care,

Frank

Hey man- I live nearby, right outside of Fayetteville/Fort Bragg. Both those shops listed above are great (Hayes is closer to me) and there is a Hobby Lobby too.

PM me if you’d like to meet for lunch sometime, or a tour of Fayetteville. I moved here in '91, and when I got out of the Army in '98, stayed here. I was in a Psyop unit.
