I want to share with you the building process of this model. Kit´s from AFV Club 1/35, had to do some scratch & kitbashing to get a more or less accurate version of this vehicle, currently in use with the Chilean Marines. The build came easy, almost no flash on the sprues, and very hidden sinkmarks & ejector pins. Some things done to it are:
Place an MAG between the hatchets on the turret roof, mount included (spare box, came from an Academy Zelda and a pice of sprue)
Add 2 storage boxes on each side of the turret (were made with cardboard)
Add those things to place the amphibious screens (don´t know the exact name)(made with pieces of sprue properly? cut)
Change the radio antennas (US style instead of the british)(spare box, came from a Academy Zelda)
Have to fill and sand yet, also add more tools, further advance pics soon…
Nice progress. I’ve wondered what that kit was like. I’m curious to see how the cardboard boxes take paint. I’ve never seen that. Thanks for the pictures and I look forward to see how it turns out.
By right-clicking I checked the properties of one of the pictures and extracted the URL for the Photobucket album.
When I click on the Scorpion album it tells me that it is empty. Perhaps you are able to see the pictures because they are still in your browser’s cache.
well when the pictures were up, they were showing the two hatches on the turret being opened. the inside of both hatches have two really noticeable sink marks that has to be filled and sanded clean if you want to pose them as opened. but then I realized that you haven’t gone through that step yet so I took it back… =P
Cool. Nice work. I’ve got this kit & the Scimitar. Dying to get stuck in to both. I think they’ll look nice & friendly parked up next to the Warrior. Keep us all in the loop, when you’ve done the camo.
Ok last fotos were 2/3 days ago, some more work done on the camo, effects from tomorrow…will be the 1st real use of oils to do so, hope will came with no trubles…
Hi all…try to fix it a little, and become this, took away most of the rust around the main body (didn´t know the vehicle was made of aluminium, just find out), more washes with oil and drybrush with a mix of gun metal and aluminium to gave it a mettalic look (and simulate a subtle chiiping paint)
here´s the pics of the Scorpion almost done…added the figures, antennas, chilean flag and some painting in the optics…more detail work has yet to be done, specialy in the figures, but the vehicle it´s almost ready:
