In progress: Scorpion CVR, Chilean Marines.....

Hi all!..

I want to share with you the building process of this model. Kit´s from AFV Club 1/35, had to do some scratch & kitbashing to get a more or less accurate version of this vehicle, currently in use with the Chilean Marines. The build came easy, almost no flash on the sprues, and very hidden sinkmarks & ejector pins. Some things done to it are:

  • Place an MAG between the hatchets on the turret roof, mount included (spare box, came from an Academy Zelda and a pice of sprue)

  • Add 2 storage boxes on each side of the turret (were made with cardboard)

  • Add those things to place the amphibious screens (don´t know the exact name)(made with pieces of sprue properly? cut)

  • Change the radio antennas (US style instead of the british)(spare box, came from a Academy Zelda)

Have to fill and sand yet, also add more tools, further advance pics soon…

Comments welcome

Cheers!

nice build so far. but if you are gonna leave those hatches opened like that, those 4 sink marks’ gotta go. = P

wait you said you had yet to fill and sand. oops my bad, scratch whatever was on top aside from it REALLY is a nice build.

Thanks archangel, but can you explain it a little, thanks a lot

Nice progress. I’ve wondered what that kit was like. I’m curious to see how the cardboard boxes take paint. I’ve never seen that. Thanks for the pictures and I look forward to see how it turns out.

Thanks Matthew, the cardboxes are of those type with a plastic cover on it. And of course, after filling and sanding it, it will be easier to paint…

About the kit, I recommend it, very easy to mount…came out really nice. The traks are a little weak, but carefully cut and placed looks ok…

Couldn´t work on it on this weekend, during the week I´ll post some thing else…

cheers

Did you change the URL or shifted pictures around? I can’t see anything…

I can see them just fine [:O]

By right-clicking I checked the properties of one of the pictures and extracted the URL for the Photobucket album.

When I click on the Scorpion album it tells me that it is empty. Perhaps you are able to see the pictures because they are still in your browser’s cache.

Here is the URL that I found…

By the way; there are some fine looking kits there.

You were right, I was organizing my photobucket account to get a better handling of the pics…now you can see them just fine

thanks for the advice

cheers

Nope. Nothing but red "X"s. Clicking on the properties and pasting into a new browser results in a PhotoBucket message that the page can not be found.

don´t know what it´s hapening…I check the URL adress and works ok…

check this

well when the pictures were up, they were showing the two hatches on the turret being opened. the inside of both hatches have two really noticeable sink marks that has to be filled and sanded clean if you want to pose them as opened. but then I realized that you haven’t gone through that step yet so I took it back… =P

Ok now I get it…I alredy edited the URL with the new adress…

cheers

Update, some work done, yet to correct the hatches…ready to paint the rest of the camo

cheers

Cool. Nice work. I’ve got this kit & the Scimitar. Dying to get stuck in to both. I think they’ll look nice & friendly parked up next to the Warrior. Keep us all in the loop, when you’ve done the camo.

Ok last fotos were 2/3 days ago, some more work done on the camo, effects from tomorrow…will be the 1st real use of oils to do so, hope will came with no trubles…

cheers

Ok boys new update…this is how it looks after oils, try to show it rusty and fithy, be kind it´s my first time experimenting this tecnique… :stuck_out_tongue:

comments welcome!

cheers

Hi all…try to fix it a little, and become this, took away most of the rust around the main body (didn´t know the vehicle was made of aluminium, just find out), more washes with oil and drybrush with a mix of gun metal and aluminium to gave it a mettalic look (and simulate a subtle chiiping paint)

Advices welcome

All the best
