In Progress F-15E

I’m now working on my Academy F-15E “Strike Eagle”. Yes, before I got into Armor I used to model A/C, and I’m getting back into it. I just finished the majority of the building, and now I’m getting to the painting phase.

This is a close up of the rear of the fighter with the Tamiya acrlyic, “Medium Blue” applied as primer.

Here’s the whole bird with the primer applied.

This is the first time that I’ve ever melted the tires to show the weight that they are under.

I could have easily ABed the camo, but the tape wouldn’t stick to the paint. I used some old Tamiya “Neutral Grey” overall on the F-15, and my masking tape wouldn’t stick to it. The whole plane feels “chalky”, almost like I painted it with grey chalk pastels. I’m guesing it’s old paint, but I’m not sure.

This is the whole bird ABed with neutral grey and hand painted with Polly Scale “grey-voilet”.

Thanks for looking at my F-15 in progress! [8D]

Nice work so far. Keep us posted.

Regards, Rick

Hmmmmm I figure you could have just left it with the Neutral gray since that looks close to the Gunship Gray coloring used by the F-15E and is it me but shouldnt Academy have included 4 MER’s instead of 2 and eliminated the ASAT missile because I know about the Academy F-15E since I have one on my To Do list and who knows I do have a whole arsenal of weapons to install on it.

NIce work , just go easy on flattening the tires. Too much and it’ll look like the crew chief didn’t air them up that morning.
