So I was thinking to show you also my first Star Wars models one from Revell 1:4000 scale and the pocket version from Bandai 1:14500. The model from Revell is the kit with engine light and sound and the rest of the lights are made with optic fiber. It was very difficult build mainly because I had to cut most of the internal structure ( it was the the click version from Revell), to make room for optic fiber but also the hols for optic fiber, where I used a very thin borer 0.5/0.8mm with a manual drill ( I will never attempt that ever again
) The paint job that I did was basic panel line pre-shadow a full wash where I did a mistake using acrylic on acrylic and it turn to be more gray than I wanted. I made this model for a friend, he bought the kit and the paints and I made my practice on it ![]()
The second version, from Bandai, is also very basic painted and also I got stubborn to put some light in it because back then I didn’t saw any with lights. Also I made some image composition like in old Star Wars movies with this one.
P.S.
Sorry for credentials on some photos, back then I put them all over my work ![]()
Beautiful job on both, but I’m especially impressed with the smaller one - that’s quite the feat of engineering getting it lit!
As I’ve said before, the engineering of the smaller Bandai kits is incredible with tons of detail. I found an aftermarket set of decals that really made the detail pop!
Very nice. I did a Bandai Super Star Destroyer, and was able to add lights to that tiny thing, but was unable to do so with their tiny Blockade Runner. I have a larger scale Bandai Star Destroyer in my stash that includes everything for lighting, including clear parts for all those portal lights.
Thank you! Yes it’s much detailed with decals do you have a link for them? Masking this little ones is hell ![]()
I found a string of mini LEDs from Evan Designs.that’ll work perfectly in the Blockade Runner…
String of LED Lights- Choose from Warm or Cool white Chip LEDs
Awesome ISDs! Love the extra “in universe” shots too.
I believe I have that decal sheet! I bought their Blockade Runner decals and they performed flawlessly, sucking down over the deep relief details with proper use of Mr. Mark Softer decal solvent. The sheets are single-carrier film, so you need to carefully trim each design out. But if you use a fresh Xacto knife and some sharp cuticle scissors, you should be OK.

The small sheet is for the Super Star Destroyer.

I built a Star Destroyer before I got the decals, so it’s a 1977 Star Wars ISD. ![]()

The Star Destroyer sheet can do four(!) kits, so PM me and I will gladly send you half of my sheet. Are you in the US?
