Imperial Japanese Group Build Part II

oil based…whoops…

Either way Joe you’ve become a master at paint mixing. I can’t imagine all that extra paint work.

Lots of great work in here… congrats and all these great builds!

I have a couple of Tamiya 1:48 RUFEs (Zero float planes) that I started for the IJGB I. Construction is less that 50% but i did complete (build and painted) the carrier sled.

Once I finish those I want to build couple 1:700 Waterline IJN destroyers

Let me know if the RUFEs are allowed; if not I have other IJA/N warbirds in the stash.

Cheers

Alright, Lets get the Ki-84 Hayate going ,

I’m not real big on the Japanese aircraft, but hey… It flies and I like em, I just dont know alot about them. These Tamiya kits are very well engineered and go together near flawlessly. Even the less costly kits like this one, are a pleasure to build. This kit is not expensive and I am aiming to work more on the exterior finish and not so much on the interior details, I cant see spending 5 times what the kit cost to dress it up, so it will be (with the exception of the decals) pretty much OOB. I have a nicer one I may “resin & PE” at a later date.

Doug

Hi all,

I wanted to show a few pictures of my Tamiya Yamato 1:350, but I don’t know how. I tried photobucket, bbut i cannot upload any pics for some reason.

Any advice?

Cheers,

Paul

What is the hassle with Photobucket? I usually go into PB, click the “upload” green tag then select the pix from my harddrave.Once uploaded I “save and return to albums”

Once there you click to select the pic you want to load to FSM. It will give a large format pic, right click the mouse, go to “copy image” left click and go to forums. Then right click to paste the pic.

I find it easier to open PB in another window to post pix, saves time to go betewwn programs.

I found that the new format PB was not user friendly for me so I went back the the old one, muce nicer.

make sure you are using rich text formatting for your reply

add photos to photobucket.

click on the little pic top get the big pic.

when the big pic comes up, click on it

to the right is IMAGE LINKS (if it isn’t open, click the down arrow to the right of IMG Code. left click the link in the box. it will turn yellow. this copies it to the clipboard.

return to finescale message reply and paste.

JMart: Yeah, you’re more than welcome to bring over anything from part I, no matter how work you’ve gotten done on her. Bsyamato already finished one of his models here that he brought over. I’ll go ahead and put the Rufes down if you’d like.

Doug: Looks good! I’ll spend a little more time on the cockpit if you can see it, but the Ki-84 is cramped enough inside you won’t see much so I’ll agree to spend more time on the outside.

Paul: Hope the guys advice helps, I’m not too good at explaining things. If you use PB they did change the site, and not for the better, I’m still getting used to the new site.

I did get my figures for the mortar almost done. Honestly they look better than the photo or at least I think so!

The egg Zero is ready for paint, I don’t know if the fit here was bad or I really messed it up but I had lots of problems getting rid of the seams.

And I know she’s not Japanese but I thought the egg Zero needs a playmate.

Hi guys,

On PB, I did precise what you describe, however nothing happens… I think I’ll fight it out with the PB webmaster…

Anyway, since I tried to upload pictures I airbrushed the hull of the Yamato. The ship is tarting to get alive!

Cheers, Paul

Paul: PB changed a lot of stuff around, it took me a while to get used to the new site. Just keep playing with it till it works.

I did notice when the links come up you’ll need to ‘copy’ the second link from the top and then hit ‘Insert Image’ on this site and then paste it into the pop-up box.

Good luck!

Thanks Gamera, I’m still busy to get my pics on PB… no succes untill now…

By the way, I didn’t see my build in the list on page one… (snif)

Cheers!

Paul: you’re there on the second post on the front page - right between Canbycoop and Fjs3.

Please, if I messed something up let me know so I can fix it.

OK, I’ve seen it!

…and still no succes on PhotoBucket…

Gamera – Great! Yes, add me with the two RUFEs, I may follow up with a couple of IJN 1:00 waterline destroyers.

RR – look forward to the Ki-84

I want to see that Yamato : (

The “new” FSM and PB formats are a pain… I used to be able to type my WIPs in a word document, and simply copy/paste the PB pic link onto the document. Copy/pasting the document contents onto the (old) FSM forums produced properly formatted paragraphs and pictures with ONE click. sigh

Hi all,

It worked out with the pics. Not on Photobucket but Devian art. Anyway, it works…

http://fav.me/d5upz9e

Here is the deck and citadel, The citadel has all the etchwork, the 2 main guns are done, with model master guns.

http://fav.me/d5uq02f

The hull on my chair. Because of the size of the hul it does not fit into my spray boot, so the spraywork is done on this chair. I cover it up, off course

http://fav.me/d5upzvt

The wooden deck. I have to cut it out, but it beats painting and oiling the plastic deck.

http://fav.me/d5uq0ax

The complete ship. you get the feeling of the size of this monster. 79 cm long and 16 cm high. Times 350 is BIG!

http://fav.me/d5uq0jj

A vieuw of the bridge and the main guns. It is about the same angle of my avatar.

In the mean time the hull has got its hull red (Vallejo) and the frontal 15cm guns. It only needs its antenna, but while building the stairs at the front of the guns I heared 3 times a click and I could search for my stairs. I found 3, one of them glued at the ceiling…

Now when I click on reply, I hope the pics are visible…

Cheers, Paul

in with a 350 scale yamato or musashi (maybe even both lol)

JMart: Sounds good!

Paul: Wow, she is a monster!!! Looking forward to seeing her come together, those wooden decks look really cool.

Eatthis: Cool! Both of them though!?! Wow!

Cliff

Again, Bravo and thanks to Tamiya, The kits for the most part go together very well and fit is rarely a problem. Any way, shes up to the point of primer and base coat of silver. I didn’t use aluminum because according to what info I was able to find, most all aircraft (Japanese) of the period were made of streched and stamped sheet metal skins about the thickness of a post card, due to the lack of aluminum in Japan at the time.

Doug

Doug: Looks great! Hmm, didn’t know that about the skins- you learn something new everyday!

Nice Doug. Always loved the lines of the Frank.
