Imperial Japanese Group Build Part II

I’m in…but I’m not sure which kit I’ll build yet…

Sure, you’ ve still got a month till things kick off!

Stik, I used blue tac for the first time in my recently completed George. I’m sure we all know that it’s different stuff, but the concept is the same. My advice would be to use thin rolls of it, I though mine were too thick which left the demarcation a little too soft. My rolls were about pencil thickness.

I’m sure you’ll make it work really well.

cheers

Tony

I’ve used both the Blue Tack and Silly-Putty. Both of them seem to work really well. The SP of course stretches and sticks slightly better and the BT is easier to get off. Otherwise they both seem to be pretty similar.

I also picked up the Gunze set for Japanese AFVs, it’s a lacquer based paint, and I found it annoying since if you don’t get the paint/thinner ratio perfect it tends to create long strings of paint shooting out of the airbrush almost like Silly String. Weird…

OK this is going to be my entry into the GB…Cheers mark

Hey CXliff… Thanks for doing another GB! These are good subjects and as far as badges… I like Zero in clouds #1 and Geisha with flowers #15. Also, Stick has some good looking prints! We had a guy in our rifle company in Viet-Nam who would sit a draw every chance he got… Quite the artist.

Count me in for the sequel please. The first one was a great experience for me so I would love to join in again for 2013. I’m not quite sure when I would start though but I’ll be in it at some stage. I have a Hasegawa Ki-61 in the stash right now but I might do something different if my collection was to increase at some stage.

I would also warn against using cheaper versions of Blu tak for masking. I used some recently and it left an oily stain on my paintwork.

in i am!

B6n2 Tenzan, 72 from fujimi!

Cliff, if allowed i have a special to put in, the heller Bf-108 that want to finish in japanese markings

Great stuff guys! I’m on the phone right now and find it hard to edit posts so I’ll get you guys posted when I get on my pc with an actual keyboard!

sign me in for a couple unbuilt Japanese planes in my stash

Nichimo 1/48 sonja

Tamiya 1/48 G4M Betty

maybe more…

cast my vote for #5 fun badge & #8/#9 serious badge

Mark: Wow! Now that’s a box of PE!

BW: Just put you down with the Ki-61, if you change your mind it’s a simple enough thing to change the entry- just let me know.

Bsyamato: Those look great! Sure, no problem with the Bf-108! I’ve seen photos of Bf-109s and Fw-109s brought to Japan for evaluation, one day I’d like to get around to building one or both of them.

Canbycoop: Welcome! Very cool stuff there! I’ve got the big Tamiya Betty, but haven’t had the guts to tackle her yet, looking forward to watching you build your kit.

Cliff

The jap taifun is avaible from eduard in 1/48 [:)] i know you probably don’t like one in 72 scale

Hey cool, Bsyamato, nice looking kit!

Put me down for a 1/48 Tamiya Raiden. It’s an older kit without a lot of detail, but it does have recessed panel lines, and I’ve got some new ideas for weathering.

I might do a Gekko and Hayate, as well, if time permits.

Oh…and I vote Fun badge #8; Serious badge #2

I want to sign up, have a lot of kits to re-build, not sure what though so put me down for a TBA please.

Len

Thanks guys, got you both down.

Guess I should be bumping this back to the top though!

Still- I haven’t even figured out what I want to build yet, and I’ve still got the Tamiya Zero from part I that needs to be finished up - sigh…

Greetings,

Put me down for the 1/48 Tamiya “Frank.” Just ordered it, have no idea what exactly I’ll do with it other than I know it’ll be an army green scheme and it’ll probably be a while before I get started, as I have two other group builds to work on, plus a couple of other projects.

SF: Just got you down, no worries, we’ve got a year to go on this one.

Now I need to weed though the stash and figure what I want to build…

So far we’ve got votes for the following badges:

Fun:
