I entered the Tamiya 1/48 Panzer III Ausf.N, that I built for the War in the Desert GB, in last weekends IPMS Region 4 Model Show in Cleveland, Ohio. It was a great show & competition was stiff with many excellent models on display. I managed to eke out a Second Place in 1/48 AFV Category.
Not bad for a wingy thingy modeler [:D].
Thanks to all who offered constructive suggestions, tips & references when I posted the build earlier.
Congrat’s Rick[#toast]. And I have a confession to make,I’ve been checking out some 1/72 B17 kit’s[:O] If there was anything with wing’s that make me think of armor this would be it[^]
Thanks for all the congrats guys, I am kinda proud of this effort.
dupes… oh yeah, there will be more of these little kits in my future. Fact is, I have the Tamiya 1/48 Panther G about 80% finished, with a Crusader Mk.I/II waiting in the wings [:)].
I had a conversation with one of the Vendors at the Region 4 Model Show, who seems pretty well tuned in with Tamiya. He was saying that Tamiya will probably not release an upsized Crusader because of contractural agreements between Tamiya & Italeri. That’s the bad news, on the good news front they are going to release the Marder in 1/48 later this year & very likely the Char Bis as well, although probably not until next year.
Rick, you just killed me. I can’t believe they have contract with Italeri. [:(!] Not likely that Dragon or anyone else will release one I suppose. Fortunately, I do have an Italeri kit in the stash just in case.
Great Job RJK!!! I know the feeling, I’m primarily a wing nut myself, and at our local IPMS contest, I took first in Soft Skin Vehicles with a 1/35 M35A2 Deuce and a Half. And my 1/72 F4F-4 Hellcat only took 3rd. How is that??
Rick, well done on your award, though it doesn’t surprise me at all. Model skills (of which you have LOADS) are transferable from genre to genre. It won’t surprise me if you take awards in Ships and Autos, either.
