I'm no poser...

Just to prove that I am actually working on something and I’m not just a unbuilt kit junkie… here it is. Sorry about the poor picture quality. It’s Academy’s 1/72 P-47 "Razorback. It’s ready for masking, primer, then paint. I’m getting ready to future and mask the canopy, and the landing gear is being painted and readied to go on after the paint is done…
Go easy it’s my first serious model… a long way from the unpainted balls of plastic and glue from my childhood. Back then it would only take me an evening to put them together, and probably less time to destroy them.

looks good so far cant wait to see the progression of this build.

She’s coming along looks like.

poser
n 1: a person who habitually pretends to be something he is not [syn: “poseur”]
n 2: A “wannabee"; not hacker slang, but used among
crackers, phreaks and “warez”. Not as negative as “lamer” or
“leech”. Probably derives from a similar usage among punk-rockers
and metalheads, putting down those who “talk the talk but don’t walk
the walk”.

No, my friend, you are definitely not a poser! [;)]
I take back almost everything I ever said about you in the past.

Good looking start there Adam. Can’t wait to see the next steps.

You know, though, now that you’ve posted the pic, you have to finish it. [:D]

Speaking of pics, that’s a great shot of the B2. Did you take that yourself?

stinger

Very nice! One question: How are you going to finish it? Bare metal, or camo?

Keep in touch, I’m looking forward to more pics.

Way to go! Looking forward to more pictures!

Looks great, AJACKETSFAN. And, just like Stinger said, you KNOW you’re gonna have to post a picture of it when it’s FINISHED!![:D]

Err. Why were you called a poser? Not that it’s really my business, just curious. Nice lookin’ Razorback you got going there. I wish I could get some of mine looking half that good.

a thought I hope I’m not branded a poser just because I don’t have any pictures to post. I don’t even have a digital camera yet and if not posting pictures is all it takes to brand someone a poser on this site then… hmmm… That’s just weak that someone would do that to anyone for whatever reason, period.

fightnjoe, cassibil, stinger, benzdoc, Swanny, Gary: You’re kind words are much appreciated! I have seen some of your models and it means a lot to have you all compliment me like that.

stinger, thank you my friend… and yes I did get that picture myself… 5 points to the first person who can tell me where…[;)]

benzdoc, It’ll be the usuall OD over gray… good thing there’s an article in FSM this month about tinting individual panels… thanks to the staff of FSM for once again being one step ahead of my build…

Looking good JacketsFan!

I remember those 4 1/2 hour projects, in days gone by, and as ironic as it may seem, now days it seems I must MAKE myself finish a project, as the seven partially built models in my work room demonstrate.

You won’t be like that however, and will have some cool completion pics for us in a couple days, right?

Take care, thanks for the update,
Frank

No thenothing nobody on this sight would ever do that! It was kind of an inside joke between a good buddy of mine and I. Don’t feel bad, this isn’t my camera, it’s my dad’s I had to borrow it so I could take some pix of my model. By the way, sorry you didn’t make it into my last post I must have been typing mine as you typed yours… I surely wasn’t trying to treat you like “thenothing”[:D][;)]

Glad it wasn’t someone from this site. That’s kind of why I found it a bit odd. Everyone I’ve come across here seems to be pretty laid back and I have yet to see any flamewars or anything like that here.

That’s okay about me not making it into your last post. Yeah, my screen-name is a bit odd but that too is an inside joke between me and some friends. [:D]

Does it have to do with “The Neverending Story”

I really liked that movie as a kid. I sympathised with the main character, as I was a habitual reader myself.

Where in OK are you?

Also, Great start on that Jug, keep borrowing the camera and posting pics. I should have a digicam myself soon, so I’ll be a poster, not a poser [:)]

Coming along really nicely, AJACKETSFAN ! Looks like you’ve learnrd to conquor the basics of seams & alignment. Good job ! Nice, even coat on the primer, too. Keep up the good work & keep us posted !

No, it doesn’t have anything to do with that movie although I can see why most people would think that. Yeah, I too liked that movie as a kid, for pretty much the same reasons as you.

It basically has to do with some old friends of mine that used to say things like “nothing’s gonna keep me from…” this or that (asking a girl out they don’t have a chance with, drinking the last beer, etc.). I would always ask them “What if I stopped you?”. They would say something back like “Well, then you’d be nothing” or “the nothing”. Pretty stupid but we all thought it was funny.

I’m in the same woods you are, Tulsa. Been living in and around here for 32 years now. Whoops, just gave away my age…[:I] Just got back into modeling a few months ago and have yet to stop this time. Do you know of any other hobby shops besides Action Hobbies, Wings & Things, and Hobby Lobby? I’ve been out of the loop for several years and these are the only stores I know that still sell hobby supplies here in T-town. Is Ted’s Hobbies still around?

Sorry to de-rail this thread, AJACKETSFAN. It happens.

Hey!

That looks like a pretty clean build to me! It’s amazing how fast it will go once you get the paint on. Have fun!!

Murray

Thanks everyone. Pixilater I wish I could say the primer was on… the flash just gave it that illusion… unfortunately, I haven’t yet used my airbrush, that’s the next hurdle. Hopefully it’ll be a quarter the quality of the paint jobs you all do.

Frank, yup that’s how it went… little strings of glue all over the place… finger prints all over the clear parts… those were the days…[;)]

No guesses on where the B-2 is?[:P]

Excellent stuff !
coming along nicely
I love the 1/72 academy range , sooo many choices
and great detail for its price.
please keep us updated.

Good one, Adam
I’ve got this kit as well - it’s a great little kit.
I’m looking forward to seeing your photos of the thing completed.
