Im gonna build a scooter

Next up on the chopping block… Heinemans Hotrod

After reading another post I realized I have no excuse for not having something cooking at the moment, though I doubt Ill ever be a model building factory like Pix or Swanny. I took a look at my stash and found something I had the stuff to build. Alot of the kits I have are ones that I want to turn out nice but still dont think I have the skills to do em justice. So I pulled this one out thinking I could use this to practice some of the awsome things Ive seen going on here. In this case I want to work more with future and Im gonna try pre shading panel lines like Ive seen done on Skii’s awsome Lightning. I was going to try and detail the cockpit but with this Kit Id either have to scratch build everything or use aftermarket. It has NOTHING for detail. I tried to add a pilot I liberated from a Monogram F-14 kit but I guess A-4 Pilots are MUCH smaller [%-)] If the Navy ever finds out what I did to that pilot to get him to fit they’ll hang me up by a Yardarm. After dropping him in boiling water to bend him to shape, sanding his butt down to near nothing and chopping off his legs it all turned out to be for naught. I still cant get his head down low enough to put the Canopy on and make it look good… So Ill have a pilot less plane. Unfortunate since Im going to model it with the gears up. (the A-4 just looks plane funny with its nose gear down) So far Ive done alot of dry fitting, the wings, and the basic cockpit. As simple as this kit is it shouldn’t take me long so more pics should follow soon

I love the A-4…! Will be looking forward to seeing your progress!

Always pleased to see a scooter! Good luck with your build!

Good choice of aircraft to build. I love the scooter, can’t wait to see what you can do with this one.

Believe that should be “Ed Heineman’s Hotrod”

(IF we are to be picky…)[:D]

Good luck on your build. Looks like a good start.

Regards, Rick

I stand corrected Winnie. Thankyou.
I was going off memorie alone and didnt look it up before typing. As you can see the memory is starting to fail me :frowning:

The first time I go to see the A-4 close up and personal, was at the Pope AFB Open House in 1979, with the “Blue Angels”. A nimble and BEAUTIFUL aircraft indeed, either “in-flight” or “down & dirty”… look forward to seeing your progress, thanks for posting! [:)]

Take care,
Frank
