Finnaly finished the Trumpeter’s “Beagle”. The scale is 1/72.
Overall, it is a good kit but has some major engine fitting problems. Lots of sanding. I modified the cockpit and opened the bombardier’s hatch. The finish is Tamya Field Grey-top and Dark Sea Grey-bottom. The shading is airbrushed with 50/50 Tamya Black/Brown mixture heavily thinned.
Thanks,
B.
Superb job on the Beagle!
Great work with the panel lines, weathering, and worn paint.
Beautiful Beagle. Very nice work. Thanks for sharing.
Regards, Rick
Very nice, always liked the looks of the aircraft.
How was the fit of the clear parts, especially the gunner’s windows in the tail? What was the original plastic surface of the kit like? Did it have a rough feel or was it smooth to the touch?
Great finish… love the paint job. Looks alot bigger then 1/72
Fantastic paint job on this one. The weathering and panel chipping are ultra-realistic.
Regards, Dan
Great job on the “Bagel”. I have had the 1/72 Airfix kit for a couple of centuries. Unfortunately, it is a long way down on the list of “to do” kits. [alien]
superb job. I love the way that plane looks.
I love the paint. Great depth and the weather is very convincing. A+
very nice friend!![tup] later.
Great Job on a great subject. I love the weathering effect.
Hiya bdelov,
I have to agree with “thehannaman”, I love the over all look especially the weathering. I have seen this at my LHS and I may have to get one now…!!!
How is the quality of detail on this kit especially the office?? Again you done the Beagle proud…
Thanks for sharing.
Flaps up, Mike
Thanks for the kind words, I must say that I am much inspired from the work that you all post here. Especially, Swanny’s tip on the electric toothbrush—it’s a lifesaver. I don’t know what I did before–sort of the dark Ages of modeling at the dawn of the industrial revolution…Anyhow, back to the kit review:
The original plastic surface is smooth and one can do a really nice NMF. The pilot canopy fits well; a little work is needed on the nose. The rear piece fits really bad, but nothing a good sanding can’t fix. I left mine as it is because I wanted to hurry up and finish the model but the ridge shows.
There is almost no interior detail. I filled the empty space with a lot of resin leftovers and then picked out colors with a fine brush. Replaced the kit seats with resin Soviet ejection seats and it really gives the nice touch. Too bad about 80% of the interior is not visible at all… Pilot figures are included but they suffer from the “pillow” effect and are little flat so I completely left them out.

Add me to the admirers. Your “Soviet B-57/Canberra” is truly a work of art. Now I want one too, but in 1/48.

That looks really nice.Good to see an uncommon subject, especially with that good of a paint/weathering job.Allen
Great job, don’t see his plane to often built up.
Bdelov, the Beagle turned out great, and I love the weathering, truly a great looking build.
I heard that the Trumpeter kit was a copy of the Bilek/Italeri issue, and not as good. You wouldn’t know it from your build.
I’ve been contemplating one of these for a while, maybe in NMF.
Thanks for sharing.

Great job on the build!
