If you're considering doing a P-39...

…do this one. A couple of week’s back I asked the forum for opinions regarding the Eduard P-39 kits and it was given high praise. You guys were so right.

I picked up the dual combo at the LHS and have started the build, while the Helldiver is stalled. WOW what I nice kit. I was a bit leery about paying $45 for the box. But with 2 of everything… 2 planes, 2 sets of pre-painted PE, 2 sets of masks, nose weights and markings for 6 a/c… it was a great deal.

Detail is good with fine engraved panel lines. The parts have zero flash and the round parts, like the LG struts are in such perfect register the mold line is almost invisible. I have not found a poorly placed ejector pin mark anywhere yet. So far fit has been fantastic, have test fit all the major components. I was worried about putting together the cockpit the way they say to… 6 bulkheads, a floor section, radio shelf, the interior of the air scoop and front wheel well… and having it all line up. It drops right into place.

Sprue shots can be seen HERE. I put up some WIP shots soon.

Marc,
Thanks for the heads-up…I’ve got a few Eduard kits and have always been extremely impressed with the vaue for money - I believe their offerings of late are even better than the best Tamiya kits.
I’m looking forward to getting their Fw190.

Thanks. Thanks a lot. No lunch for this week either. LOL

I know what I’m getting this week! It’ll sit in the stash for a while, but hey- I’m a styrene-a-holic!

Sounds cool!

I agree Marc, the Eduard P-39 series of kits are very good. The only problem I’ve encountered with them is the fit of the doors if you want to pose them closed. If you want them open, it’s a non-issue. That & the overly thick wing trailing edges are all that detracts from otherwise excellent kits.

Regards, Rick

I haveenjoyed these kits as well

Thad

Thanks for the heads up about the doors and the TE’s. I planned on open doors so that’s covered. I’ll figure out something for the TE’s.

I built an Eduard P-400 a few months ago for the South Pacific GB. It is a really nice kit. Eduard seems to be doing everything right these days. While the Tamigawa kits climb in price the Eduard kits are dropping. The non-profipack P-400 came with masks and a cast nose weight. The decals worked really well and the give you neat little options like weighted wheels, etc.

I recently got hooked on Eduards WWI line. The “Weekend Editions” can be had for less than 9 bucks. And I’m finding that the Profipack versions of the same kits are only a few $$$ more.

Sounds Sweet Wing, can’t wait to see some pics

I wish my nearby HobLob would stock these Eduards. They sound very good. Two planes in the kit? Awesome. $ 22.50 a plane for good quality isn’t too bad, you just gotta pay $45 to do it…
