Suppose you had only the modeling basics(sprue cutters,knives,tweezers,paint,brushes,airbrush,ect) and had a healthy stash of kits. What luxury modeling supply would you buy with 20$?
Spent $20 on my magnifying lamp. Clamps on my desk and uses a normal lightbulb. Its a great piece of kit!

A dang incandescant light bulb! Been stocking up ever since they passed the law that says you can only use flourescent (forgot if federal or only CA). I can only see right under a GE reveal bulb, flurescent blurs my vision for some reason and throws my colors off.
Ditto that CM…I’ve been stocking up on GE Reveal bulbs. Clean bright light with good color temperature; I’m not looking forward to the day when we can only the puny squiggle bulbs!
Well since a motor tool is out of that price range, and of the things I do not see listed I would say needle files, and a few sanding sticks of various grits- course, medium, fine, and ultra fine.
Masking tape, for $20 I get some Tamiya tape a various sizes and some ultra fine (1mm) tape. It has been my experience that good masking can really make or break a model.

I’d stock up on Lion Roar brass tubing in the 0.4 and 0.5 mm sizes for my turnbuckles. Maybe an extra CFL bulb for my workbench. Phillips makes one that is the equivalent of a 150w incandescent with a color temp of 6500K. I already have 2 mounted above my bench.
I just baught an electric screwdriver and a hex attached chuck to use for a motor tool. I get two for one really and I like the fact it turns quite slowly but has a load of torque. Plus when I need to put up yet more shelves its handy

I’ve got a punch&die set on my list, but it’s gonna be clear of the $20 ceiling.
I’d go for small files or drill bits.
I’d like to buy a hex punch and die set for reproducing bolts on 1/25 armor.
So far- cost is more like $50.

Some Tamiya weathering kits. I like my boats to look knackered.
there are some foot and nail sanders in the health & beauty sections that make great paint stirrers or low torque grinders/sanders,a couple of them are the same shank size as Dremel bits,so far, I have one shaped like a fat penlight, and one that is almost a scale model of a Milwaukee grinder
the other option for $20 is a trip to Sally Beauty to get sanding sticks/blocks/pads, etc, and wooden cuticle sticks
