IDF Group Build Mk. II 2010-2011

White, I got mine here

A little cheaper but I dont know how postage adds up for you. I’ll admit I only got it cause I wanted a F-16 with CFT’s and the chance for a great weapons load out (plus many spares) is bonus.

Andrew

Well got a start done this morning, not much of a one but a start none the less. Two panels ground down and replacements added and two cockpit walls in. Nice not having to do lots intricate painting.

Andrew

KW13 – this Sufa is going to be a visual feast to watch go together!

Well, my Avia S-199 decals came in today, so I’m going to consider the Hobbycraft kit with Aeromaster markings to be a companion project to the Hasegawa Mustang in (kit) IDF markings, old adversaries now on the same team for their 1948 encounters with destiny. It’ll be interesting to see how they compare, my only experiences with Hobbycraft have not been very memorable, but theirs is the only Knife I’m aware of.

Cheers, Mike/TB379

SInce this is running so long, I’ll be doing an F-16I “Sufa” as well using the 1/48 Kenetic F-16DJ and the conversion set. I’m sure this will take me to the end date of the group build but it’s just an awesome looking plan, I got to try it. Now, it May 1 would hurry the heck up and get here!!!

Hay “Andrew” I’m going to go on and get one of the jets from the site I posed as I would have to set up a paypal account and I dont want to do that just for one aircraft. I realy want to do an F/A-18 but will se what I can come up with apart for this GB.

In 1/72 the AML S199 is a great little kit, with vac canopies, resin bits and a little PE. I liked it.

What’s your plan for the green color? That’s always a good debate.

(Tamiya) IJN Aircraft Grey and RAF Buff mixed 75/25, looked good to me.

Hi Bondo – thanks for the tip, I might just use that mix! (Sweet 1:72, BTW – that’s a real nice finish!) My references say either RLM-02, which really looks nothing like this, or the mysterious RLM-68, which is “similar” but a bit greener… Humbrol 90 Beige-Green was suggested, but I know that shade and it’s nothing like an Israeli camo colour! I was thinking 02 mixed with a spot of green (20%?) might be acceptable, but I’d really like some more info on RLM-68. There was an FS equivalent that I can compare it to, but if research remains confounding I think the mix you’ve suggested is very visually pleasing and I’ll go with that. The paints would be XF-12 and XF-52???

Cheers, Mike/TB379

PS: I pulled out the 1:48 S-199 yesterday, she looks good!

OK Bit more done. Have actually finished a little more than it shows here as I have the instrument panels in as well. Ready to move on to step two.

More to come

Andrew

Okay, got the cockpit of my OV-1D almost done. Just need belts and a little weathering to finish. I can’t find a pic showing how the belts look. I’ve also partially completed the wings and tail surfaces. Long way to go.

I don’t remember which issue, but there is a GREAT build of this aircraft with GREAT pics in a semi recent issue of FSM. The interior is very well detailed on the build.

Id o plan to join this GB, but I gotta get a kit first and $$ is WAY too tight right now.

You guys have been busy! Must have something to do with not having to build so many wheels…

I did get pics of my “raw materials”…

Sacrificial goats:

And sprues ( mixed bag here, it’s a spare parts build)

And basic hull, started a couple of weeks ago, from yet more leftovers:

Still a couple of weeks before I get a real start on this one.

WoW guys that some awesome detail on those aircraft interior and to RBaer you have been busy as well, love those two tanks man. I to plan on building one more Mk. IIID tank. Once I get the top of my WWII Panzerwerfer 42’s upper hull built I’m going to start on some work for my Mk. IV APC.

Not alot more done so far but here is what I have done

Cockpit test fisted after applying needed parts to upper fuselage.

Wheel well test fitted into place before final painting of area.

Andrew

Man that’s some grate work your doing to that Jet. Ok guys for the last two weeks, I have bean working on making some line drawings to aid in my construction. I just want you guys to know I’m still in on this build. SO here’s a photo of my drawing. I hope this weekend I can start putting plastic together.

Update. Cockpit and weights are in the closed fuselage. Wings assembled. Had to wash the plastic twice, barely holds the paint. You guys look to be doing some fine work. Chris

Want to keep my eyes on this one gang, I have an Avia kit that I may be able to contribute after ball season is over. Later,

Vance you have bean added to the list when you know the scale and type of aircraft let me know so I can add it to the list as well. An guys I love the work on the two aircraft. [:P]

Don’t you guys always have a 'ball season? Football, baseball, basketball, add in the preseason games. LOL. Just start now you know you want to [;)]

Grate work guys, heres something I have bean workin on. It’s not for this GB but it’s and IDF tank. It’s an IDF M113 AMEV.

Nothing very involved at all, right?[H]

Looks good, following this one on the “other” site as well.

I’m kind of in the same boat, finishing this up:

and then I’m into the M60A1 for this GB, I hope…
