Identity help

Can any one ID this A/C? All I have is a name “Geopishka” Is there a kit? I think it looks pretty sweet.[^]

I can’t help you but if you find out I would like to know the details. Best regards Woody[:D]

Hey Claymore,

That’s a production version of the Myasishchev M-17 Mystic. Looks like the drawings depict the “Geopishka” (alternately referred to as “Geophysica” or “Geophysics” ) which is slightly different than the original M-17 prototype.

The M-17 was developed as a high-altitude weather reconnaissance, air sampling, earth resources survey/remote sensing and astronomical/astrophysical research platform. There was one prototype completed and five production airframes as far as I know. All five production examples, I believe, were of the “Geophysica” layout. One of these was for ground testing with the rest being flight-rated.

I have some photos that I can scan. I’ll try and get them posted here soon.

Fade to Black…

Blackwolf could be right. I cannot tell by that drawing (too vague) but that could be the prototype. Major difference between the prototype and the production version is that the prototype was a single engine a/c and the production is a twin engine with a longer nose. You can see the prototype on my website:

Here is a production version:

I wish there were a kit of it. A lot of Russian stuff is being released so maybe we’ll get lucky…

Pat

Thanks for the help.[:)] I was under the impression it was A high altitude spy plane like the U-2 because of the large wing span but I could find no info on the net. Searcing for “Geopishka” turnesd up 0 hits.[:(]
