Identifying an aircraft in a photo

I work at the univertiy’s archives and was put in charge of sorting through a collection of WW2 photographs. I did get permission to post this pic, so no worries! Can anyone positively identify this plane? I want to say Fw-190, but I am not sure. Part of what looks like the vertical stabilizer is set next to the fuselage

Looks like an ME-262 to me. Especially with the shape of the fin.

Yep, I’d be leaning towards a Me-262 too.

thats what I thought at first, but they were rare, right? What are the odds of coming across a wreckage?

Weren’t there at least a few reports of allied fighters taking down a 262? Anythign is possible, however rare.

In late April 1945? Almost a certainty in Germany near any base they operated. As they were overrun many German aircraft were disabled by their operators.

yes, it was late '45.

I read the Werk No. as 111658, maybe someone can find out more about the airplane based on that, if correct. I did find that it was probably an Me-262A-1a, here: (Isn’t the internet great!)

All this begs another question…what other photos did you find that might be interesting?

mostly a bunch of guys standing in front of things. There are a couple where they are climbing around an armored vehicle.

there are also a set that he “comandeered” from a german. The picks show some activity on the eastern front (crossing the Don, for example) but all the captions on teh back are in german and handwritten cursive, so its been dificult to translate. I got most of them mostly translated.
