ICM Spitfire XVI 1/48 (finished)

I’ve just finished one of my projects I started last year.

Quite easy and pleasant work except decals which I threw away at once and use Montex masks and decals instead.

The model represents an aircraft from 308 Sqn. RAF on which S/Ldr Karol Pniak used to fly in A pril 1945.

Besides decals, I’ve changed undercarriage covers (for late ones), gun barrels (for shorter and more thick - taken from Hasegawa Spitfire IX kit), scratchbuilt position lights and added IFF and radio antennas.

Another Spitfire in my collection

Very nice work. Thanks for sharing your build here! How are the later ICM spitfire kits? I’m building their Yak 9T now and its a tough one.

Mk XVI is already fifth ICM Spit in my collection - it’s not a very easy model for beginners, but - from the other hand - it’s quite nice and has a good fit (if you don’t use the firewall and engine).

Decals are the most awfull part of every ICM kit, so it’s better to replace them with aftermarkets.

[:D[ [:D[ [:D[ Great job on that Spitfire, Aleksander!! Love it!

Well done!

Looks great.

So I have learned on the Mk.VII that I am building. Gonna finish it with the cowling half on and half off.

Great job. Is the deflected control surfaces a kit option or did you do surgery? Thanks for sharing.

Joe

Thank you very much!

Joe, control surfaces are kit option, but horizontal stabilizers were cut out by me and made as deflected

Nice looking Spitfire Aleksander!

Few pictures more

The definition of patience is a virtue, great build Aleksander.

Thank you!

Well done!..I’m gonna have to give ICM another look.

Joe

She’s beautiful for sure! Raymond

Great looking Spitfire, sir!

Beautiful work on a beautiful aircraft. Love the dropped stabs you did, wish I had the guts to modify something like that. Thanks for sharing her with us!

Thank you!

I was looking at the icm spits, before I bought the Edward kit.
