Here is my only build for this year…I defintly have to get some more bench time…

ICM Polikarpov I-1/IL-400:

This is the old boxing, dark green plastic, not the ideal color.

The wingassembly is quite complex and makes it inevtable that there wil be a seam on the wing. Since this is corrugated putty is not on option.

I dessed up the cockpit with some plastic rod and PE.

With a wash and some tape seatbelts:

More work on the difficult wing assembly. I think this kit was desinged by the same team as the TB-3. Fit was suprisingly good.

A small spreader to increase width and improve fit:

Some Putty needed, in this case Mr Surfacer 500

First some grey to prime:

Then metallic (Duplicolor spraycan). Decals went on ok, I used some Microscale Decal Film because these old ICM decals look brittle. All the matalic parts of the plane got a was with artist oils (windsor and newton) and after a flat coat a polish with grafite powder (grounded IKEA pencil)

Some detail work and the prop:

My methode for a wooden prop: a base coat of yellow (in this case GW Desert Yellow), draw lines with a brown pencil, then cover with Tamiya Clear Orange (then the miracle happens!)

I love this Borg! That is so cool man. You often build these unusual, interesting planes and I always look forward to what you might have next. Keep up the neat work!

Thanks guys! I guess I just like weird and obscure aircraft. Fortunatly there are loads of kits of weird and obscure aircraft!
