You are right. I use my Iphone for pics (it is very easy because I have a Photobucket app installed) but under artificial light it does strange things with red. Since I cannot set the white scale I just have to take my pics during daylight.
I am working on the rigging now. That is going reasonably well, the double wires are giving me a hard time.

I found that how you stretch the sprue is of importance. I soften (almost melt) the sprue over a candle. When you stretch the sprue it cools down and becomess hard again. This happens whilst you are stretching. It is my experience that you must stop stretching when you feel resistance. Otherwise you overstretch the sprue and it will curl instead of remaining straight. If you stretch the sprue right it will remain straight and all you have to do is to cut it to lenght and glue it in place. But that is easier said then done. [;)]

Here are the last pics of the build process. Firstly the rigging, I use a cheap drafting compass to measure the distance required:
Then I cut the sprue. The sprue has been stretched, I like using a dark colour sprue so I do not have to paint the rigged wires.
And use CA glue (gel) to glue it into place:
Some small details (a step and some aerials) where made with stretched sprue. Interestingly enough ICM shows those parts on the instruction notice stating that you should scratch build them. Maybe their moulding technology does not allow them to make such small pieces.

As said, I had some difficulty with the double wires. This was the second time I tried doubles wires and the first time I succeeded. But the ones in the middle of the fuselage are to far apart. The front double wires are good.
Anyway, all in all this I-5 has been a nice build. There where a few minor setbacks and the connection of the wings is quite fiddly but the overall fit is good and the surface details are outstanding. So I can definitely recommend this kit but due to the fiddly wings and the rigging I would say it is for the experienced modeller.

It’s strange about the needed little pices not moulded by icm; actually smallest perfect moulded piece i never see in a kt is the gun sight from the icm ki-27!! [:|]

I was suprised how much better the pics are when taken with daylight. I used the same camera (my IPhone ) for the pics. Not only is the color saturation better but the pictures are also less grainy.
The red will definitely “pop” out in my collection. I now have build both I-5 and I-153. So I still need the I-15,152 and I-190 to complete this collection of the evolution of the I-5 design. Two down and three to go. But first I will build a monoplane, all this rigging makes me go crazy.
