I have already managed to loose the engine, so this will be a curbside model. Shown is most of the frame, rear axle and the transmission and engine bearers with just the transmission on it.
Next will be to mount the fender assembly, which includes the front crossmember. I am having a bit of trouble with the gloss black for the fenders. The kit calls for semi-gloss black. Museum exhibits show what looks to be gloss black. Whether the original builds were semi or gloss I don’t know. I have elected to build a museum item.
Cool. Boy do I get losing model parts. I have lost the body and a entire assembled engine and chassis for a 29 ford streed rod, and the body for a 66 Ford Galaxie.
This is a great but sometimes fragile kit and I’m sure you’ll enjoy building it. My wife accidentally knocked it off my desk and it was destroyed beyond repair so some day i plan on building it again. Maybe your posts will inspire me to get at it. You seem to enjoy building older car related things so might I suggest you take a look at MiniArts London double decker bus.
Finally got a good enough finish on the fenders, so I got the fender/front crossmember piece glued to the frame. Also finished and added the radiator/firewall/dash assembly.
Also, finally found the motor. It was on the floor right near my chair. I know it was not there the day it launched. I swept the floor thorougly and picked up each scrap and solid piece from the dustpan and dropped it in the waste basket. Only thing I can think of is that it did not land on floor originally. It must have landed on something else and yesterday I must have bumped a shelf or something and knocked it on the floor. I had dropped a small piece on the floor, and when I looked down to get it, there was the motor. I think I can still get it in the frame.
I’d pray the place out, I do it all the time here. But I’m glad you found your engine, it was bothering me that tranny sitting alone lol ! Seriously it would have bugged me, you gave the sense of taking it in stride.
Your taxi project is looking great from this side of the internet connection !
Been working hard to complete my Viking ship (see ship forum). Did get a little more done on the taxi, however. Chassis is done (except for installing wheels), and progress on body. with the Viking ship done I can spend more time on the taxi (at least, after I clean up bench and shop.
I continue to lose parts- now I have lost front axle- hope I can find it after I clean shop. That axle would be a bear to scratch.
I stopped work for a week to remodel my modeling bench. However, I have now fastened the body to the frame. I have a picture, but I cannot access it from Postimage. Some security protocol that they imply might not work with Firefox. Don’t know how to fix it, but will post picture(s) when I get access to it, or find another photo hoster.
