IA ANG P-51 Mustangs

Iowa Air National Gaurd. I am looking for pictures the these mustangs. I have found one on the IA national gaurd website but the mustang is only half in the picture. I also have found quite a few Tuskegee mustangs (not what I am looking for). I have been looking for almost a year now… Anyone have any information or leads that I can use. After researching it seems all the other National Gaurds, Idaho, Califor, Texas…etc were at one point assigned the the 124 th fighter wing IA and they did not have any of there own aircraft. Thanks ahead of time for your responses … or ignores. [:)]

Seems there’s no love for Iowa Mustangs! Found every other state with no problems.

Contact the Wing historian through the IA ANG website, or by snail mail, and they should get you plenty of photos of IA P-51’s.

Thank you for looking. I will attempt contact with the historian and see what comes of it. I will post results.

Also, you want the 132nd FW which came from the 132nd FG in 1946, and which had the 124th FS as a component, not the 124th FW which came into being in 1955 at Gowen Field, Idaho. Iowa has 2 ANG wings with the other being an ARW.

The Gold Star Museum at Camp Dodge may be able to help ya… Oh yeah… The IAANG 124th fighter Squadron was also an F-51D unit…

Sent an email earlier and waiting for a reply. I will also check it out. Hoping they are not respnding because they are uploading they pictures they took for me. =P
