I loved the review of the High Planes Models P-51 “Red Baron” Reno racer. I went to the HPM web site and ordererd their 1/48 scale “World Jet” Mustang. Just something about those green wings that really caught my eye. Has anyone else built their 1/48 Reno racers before? If so, how are they? I sure can’t wait to build this one up and cover it using Bare Metal Foil! It’s going to look great next to my exhaustive rows of Mustang WW2 and Korean birds. Who would have thought there could have been something more colorful than those planes!?!
Eric
Sounds like an interesting build Eric. I’ve never tried a High Planes kit.

Eric, I’ve eeen wondering about HPM kits since I saw the review in FSM for the 1/72 Red Baron. Could you please give us a review of your kit when you get it?
I’ve never built an HPM model, but most reviews that I’ve read about them would indicate that the are typical limited run injected kits. Good detail but you’ve got lots of work to get a really good looking model. Thing is, if you want a model of a Reno racer, the only other way to do it is to either scratch build it or buy a model of the stock aircraft and modify it. Which could easily involve as much work as scratchbuilding.
