I want in on the action - hellcat progress

It seems that quite a few of us are doing hellcats right now, so I wanted to join the others and share my progress. I haven’t quite figured out how to get good close up pictures, so sorry for the quality.

Also, not that it will be able to be seen once the cockpit is in the closed fuselage, but does anyone know what color the tank behind the wall should be? and what about the one right behind the seat?

Thanks for any comments / constructive criticism…[8)]

GREAT LOOKING HELLCAT !! PLEASE POST PICTURES WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED.
I GUESS I NEED TO GET ME AN F6F HELLCAT AND JOIN THE PARTY.

Nice progress so far. The close up pics are pretty good, nothing to apologize for. Keep us posted.

That is a good looking cockpit you have there. Are you planning any kind of wash? Very nice job on the instrument panels. I’m assuming from the thumb nail that its 1/48 or you are quite large and it’s really 1/32. I’ll go out on a limb and guess that the tank behind the wall is O2 and if so would be yellow with aluminum straps. The one behind the seat may be hydrolics which would make it brown. Of course I could be mistaken and it’s the other way around …

Okay, pulled my ref. material but can’t see either of those tanks. Sorry.

Found more stuff. I was correct on the O2 but the one behind the seat is the fire can and should be red with interior green strap.

lookin sweet my friend![tup][tup][tup] love the instrument panel man. keep the photos coming. later.

Thanks for the help Swanny. All the pictures I have didn’t give me a view of them either. It is nice to not only know the color now, but also the use.

The kit is 1/48 with a True Details cockpit set and a PE instrument panel I had. I am planning on doing a wash, but am really afraid of doing it because I have yet to have one turn out looking the way I want it to. Oh well, maybe this is the time…[;)]

Thanks everyone for the positive comments.

Nice looking cockpit you’ve got there mate. I especially like the look of your gauges on the instrument panel. The cockpit would look even better with a wash but it looks pretty good as it is. I’d love to see the cat when shes finished.

I have just found a pic and the “lid” of the tank is definitely silver, don’t know about the rest of the tank though. hope this helps a bit.

Looking gorgeous!!! Are we having a Hellcat group build, comp, or is it just everyone’s bird of choice at the moment??!! I too was thinking about picking one up, but I have too much on my plate at this moment. Can’t wait to see the finished results!!!

Clean, solid build, Leon. I like the way the dials show the guages so clearly. The harnesses too provide a distinct contrast. Very nice! Keep the pics coming, please.

The cockpit looks very good Leon. A little wear were the feet would be only a minor improvement. Don’t be afraid of a wash. You’ll have to try it sometime…

[#ditto] on the wash, but other than that, it’s a very nice and clean buildup so far [:)]

Thanks again everyone for the kind comments. I did my wash and it has pretty much completely dried. The is just one spot that I am not happy with (along a shoulder belt the wash color dried some distance away from the belt so looks a little goofy). I am hoping with this I can just go over it with a thinned Interior Green or something to correct it… Does that sound like a correct idea??

Thanks again.
Leon

Looks good so far, Leon !
Yes, you can just touch up the area of the wash with some paint. Test it first, in an unseen place, as a wash can sometimes darken the base color.
Keep up the good work !

Looks great ,and I can see u have an eye
for detail. The Hellcat is one of my faves too.
