i wanna ask something about the part trees

hey,

what do u all do with them? b/c i been thinkin about using the trees to build something like a go kart but i dont know what to do with them but i really want to use them but i dont know what all i can make with them lol [V]

I always have a few around for making spare parts… (heating and stretching them to make an antenna, sanding them and carving them to replace some brace for osmething) it always comes in handy…

not a bad idea about the go cart… never thought of that… you could practice heating and strecthing them to make them rounder and more tubular like a go kart, heck… you could even bend the roll cage and stuff out of it too! go for it! I’d like to see pics!

I keep the clear sprues for stretching into antenna wires. The rest, I cut into proper lengths for paint stirrers or simply scrap.

Regards, Rick

I don’t do ANYTHING with them until the model is completely finished. Learned that the hard way. I threw a sprue away once that I would have sworn was empty and it still had a dinky little part on it that I didn’t see.

I have a box of empty sprues around now, and I use them for things from time to time. Stretched sprue is great for CA applicators.

my dad told me that he used build dragsters outta sprue “back when i was a kid” he was born in '52, so that makes his “kid” days the 60’s or so. anyway, he said that they used to sell bodywork and engine kits for you to strap onto your frame made out of sprue. so yeah, its a great idea ! maybe with a engine kit (i think tamiya makes one) you could make yourself a swell looking dragster.

yea i maybe will build me a Go Kart but one problem is finding a little motor + wheels lol so…im goin to look at walmart next time to see if they got any toys go karts and get one and use the wheels + the motor on it so…i’ll plan everything out and drew it up see what i can come up with
