i told you i was a glutton for punishment (look at the pics)

ok i am at the point where i can share just what i have been working on here lately.

first what did i start with. well not much really…

with that being the case i resized the schematics so that they would be close to the size i wanted. then i began to cut and cut and cut some more.

after two weeks of cutting i have some progress to show.

first the body.

the head.

and the feet

now in the next picture you will see exactly what i used for the building supplies on this.

there you go. the legs and the motor housing are up next.

joe

Joe…You’ve done good!

Keep it going. i have some other info if you need it.

You go Joe! Looks like your on a roll with this one.

Matt

Beautiful Joe! When I start scratchbuilding I hope my stuff looks half as good.

Dave

I thought you said you were new to scratchbuilding? [:D]
That looks great so far! A very strong start indeed.

Joe, that’s beautiful–I only wish my scratchbuilding was as clean and sharp as your. What scale you building this beat in?

Sean

thankyou for your kindness. i am kind of vague on the scale of this one. it is approx 1/100. wanted to do a 1/72 but it didnt quite fit the paper for the schematics.

thankyou again for the kind words.

joe

I said it once and I’ll say it again, " I LOVE Star Wars models". Excuse me I think I’m going to cry.[BH][bow][bow]…You really make me proud, great job.

Are you planning to have the AT-AT in a scene or just by it’s self.?
I ask because many moons ago I was into the Star Wars role playing game and I scratch built the landing pad that was on The Endor Moon. You know the one with the AT-AT parked next to it. It was a very fast build made from card board, and was only meant to represent the building for playing purposes. BUT I have always wanted to do a serious build of that platform…Anyway it looks great.

Joe, you’re a scratchbuilding maniac!
And I didn’t know you were a Star Wars fan! (Aside from your Darth pic!)

Looks real good!

thankyou for the kind words. actually hadnt thought of how to display this one yet. to be honest i kind of rushed into it because i was afraid of the build. but you have given me some things to think about. brian after that pic/chop i had to do something, hehehe. seriously i love the star wars movies. i wouldnt say i was a fanatic but i do enjoy the films.

joe

Hey Joe, you kind of stole my idea ! [:D]
Great job though, I was going to use the “pieces” of the free paper model that I once downloaded at http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~sf-papercraft/Copyright/AT-AT/at-at.html
does anybode have any idea of the size of the “real” thing ?

if i remember right the dimensions of the “real” vehicle was just under 16 meters high by just under 25 meters from head to tail.

dan thanks.

joe

Weird, I never noticed the tail…[:D]

It seems that it is now impossible to download the PDF files for the paper AT-AT at the site that I gave. But if somebody is interested, just e-mail me, and I’ll send the files.
I’ve build the paper model and it is very nice and fun.

I also have the Tiderium Shuttle, the Millenium Falcon, X-Wing, Y-wing, Tie-Fighter and AT-ST
