ok not the best photograph but need to do this in the dark to show what this topic is about.
As much as i like to see things other people make with their heart&soul and as i am always on the lookout for new ideas techniqeus etc. i thought i share this with you.
Before i made the step to kitbashing/repainting/schratchbuilding or whatever
it’s called ,i never expected i would catch me so hard and fast.
i’m addicted to what i(WE i’m sorry darling LOL) do and we try to expand all the techniqeus we can use in the hobbie we like.
our latest jump is to light up a 1/64 scale emergency kitbash.
hope you like it and feel free to ask anything ,anytime!
Hans
Joe,i have some more but picked out the pic with the best quality.
you ever tryed to photograph light? it was the hardest thing on this project. LOL
for those interested i can provide a 1.4 MB quicktime movie by e-mail as i don’t have the possibility to post a quicktime movie on the www.
hans
actually i ain’t doing kits perse.
i use code 3 fire models and change them with the abilities i have to the ones i like.
doing lots of research and always try to hit 100% accuracy .
B/C i’m just a couple of seamiles away (4000?)from the USA i haven’t got the ability to get all the info i need.
i like North American history and try to wave that into my bashes.
as for the FD graveyard bash i used the name of the founder of the Windy city and i named the house after how the indians called Chicago in the old days.Checagou(wild forrest onion)
A FD scrapheap is very uncommon here so that’s why i like the idea behind it.
(old Dutch fire apparatus are given away for free to the poor European countrys)
the NYC facade i schratchbuild is a typical “Dutch look” firehouse and was build to honor the Dutch.
it was the perfect combination for my Dutch being and the hobbie collecting American fire apparatus.
The Baltimore firestation i build was visited by our family a couple of years ago .
the same counts for the Montreal station i’m currently building(good god what a project!).
As for the models in the collection,i started to collect only the code 3 models from the cities we did visit but started very soon to collect the cities i like as well like Chicago and NYC.
i don’t have a bond with Chicago ,i just like the color scheme of their fleet.
kitbashing isn’t very popular in Holland mostly B/C it’s quit expensive but also B/C 1/64 scale material is very very tough to find.
i feel very happy and thankfull for all the help i get from the code 3 Forum but also from the FSM forum.
as stated before we’re always trying to improve our skills and get new ideas.

Very interesting Hans. I have been mulling over an idea of a diorama that would involve useing a code 3 truck myself since there are nothing close to being kits of the truck i need. Since you don’t have access to US fire equipment, let me know if I can help with some pics. if you need them. Even equipment as well, I took some of those a while back for some needing references.
Another good place to get pics of fire apparatus is sales sites, there are a number of sites that sell used fire apparatus, most include pics from several angles and range from nearly new to antique.
That would pretty much sum it up spitfire. Like the one in my sig pic, front is a kit, rear is scratch built as well as some modification of the frame and such.
