Well thanks for all the feed back chaps-
The link to the dynavetor kit (thanks Daniel) and Mikes suggestion has sold me on giving the vacform kit a go.
If anyone else is interested, Aeroclub in the UK have a 1/48 vacform kit for about 30 odd UK pounds. They also have an excellent article on their website on building vac formed kits.
Regards
Simon
If you think this bird looks wierd standing still, you should see it fly past with one prop feathered.
Nomis - thanks for the tip. I was having trouble locating the Dynavector kit, and it looks like with your help I’ve found it. The 1/48th Aeroclub’s kit has the reference DV001 on it… sound like DynaVector to you? I’ve just emailed them to find out. Think I’ll be having one of those shortly, if it is [:D]
Yes - I recommend the Dynavector kit - I have reently built the Javelin (see the pic on the Vac form group build page) and as has been said don’t be scared - just think about things a bit and you will find it very stimulating - and there are plenty of guides about vac form building on the various web sites. I can assit with some pics if need be - wings folded eyc. - for which there is some PE.
Bugger [:(] I’ve been in touch with Aeroclub AND their supplier Hannants, and Aeroclub are awaiting stock from Hannants, and Hannants have no intention of re-stocking with the kit.
I saw one a few months ago, and didn’t buy it… now I’m really kicking myself!
Looks like I may have to buy it directly from Dynavector themselves in Japan. I’ve put in an enquiry, and will now just wait for a reply.

If you want to have a look. Aeroclub or Airwaves do a wingfold set for it to finish the job off.
I have the Czechmaster resin kit of the Gannet and it is a really good kit.
Most of the major parts have been cleaned up so they look just like an injection kit without the sprues. The panel details is all recessed and very well done as is the decal sheet. The main drawback is the price and vacformed canopies if they bother you.
Is that 1/72nd? I’m after the 1/48th kit myself, as I don’t like 1/72nd for smaller planes. I’m gonna hold out for the Dynavector kit, even if I have to get it shipped directly from the manufacturer… unless there’s another 1/48th kit I don’t know about?
It is 1/72 as you may have guessed!
MIKELW - sorry to hear about stocking of the Gannet - wold be interested in the cost - wold they offer a discount or post reduction - about £6 I believe if we ordered one each?
Who knows? Where are you? The UK? The only downside of doing it in multiples would be the possibility of getting hit by import duty if it goes over a certain limit.
I’ll see what they come back with, and if they’re amenable, I’ll PM you & see if we can’t work out a way of saving some cash [;)]
Here’s my reply from Tominari San of Dynavector:
Now, my only question is: Where could I get some decals in the UK?
Seems like a nice guy, and great English… I’m ashamed I only know about 40 words in Japanese [:I]
Kingkit have one dynavector gannet in stock at 37.50. They don’t specify which version.

Thanks for that… ordered! Hope it has the decals on… I’m nothing if not impetuous! [;)]
You’re welcome. Now where will I get one!?
Oops! They’re still showing stock, so if you’re quick, they might have one or 2. Funny - until I’d seen this thread, I was quite happy just to wait & get one, but once I’d had my curiosity awakened, and then realised that they were in short supply, I decided to strike now while the iron was still hot.
I might do a superdetail job on this one, and bring the cockpit & such up to full standard. From the white metal cockpit on my Wyvern, the gannet’s 'pit will probably need some work, and I bet that Compass Rose don’t do any resin updates for it, like they did for my Wyvern.
I can feel another trip to Duxford coming on, somehow… Saying that, I think I took a few shots of it when I was last there, so I’ll see what I can come up with.
