I Need The Most Accurate Tank Kit For My Next Project

I know this is full of peril…But I’m not a kit groupie.I want an accurate kit that needs the slightest mods to make it correct. Suggestions???

O.K., how about narrowing this down a bit? Era, country, which war, etc.? There are great, accurate kits form many companies covering a vast array. A little more focus on what you are looking for would help.

There you go…I don’t care what the vintage is…I just want a tank kit that is spot on. I’m tired of buying aftermarket stuff to correct what the kit maker should have gotten right in the first place. I’m not looking for the perfect kit…just the one with the least errors. I understand everyone sees things differently, but I’ll be the judge of what I’m looking for…So, bring it on! Thanks!

My vote goes to the Alan Models Su-76 self propelled gun

Just kidding! Get a Tasca M4A3E2 Jumbo Sherman or the Tasca Firefly VC. Both are wonderful and spot on in accuracy and sensibly engineered kits.

O.K. then. The Dragon M1A1 AIM and M1A2 SEP are great, very accurate and detailed kits.

I’m a fan of the Tamiya Leopard 2A5 and 2A6 kits. Very accurate, very easy to build and look great with what you get inside the box.

Tasca Sherman - I’ve got the 76(w), Easy Eight, and M4A1 w/ hedgerow cutters. All look fan-friggin’ tastic.

Or Bronco’s Archer. Dear god. I’ve never been so awed and intimidated by a kit as I was when I cracked that box open.

I would like to suggest Dragons Tiger I early, # 6600.
It can be built into 3 different versions and is affordable.
I can also recommend Dragon Sherman M4 75mm, Normandy # 6511.
I am not aware of any inaccuracies with ether of the kits.

No cure my curiosity, what exactly is a kit groupie?

You’re kidding right? That old clunker has been surpassed by at least two better, more accurate versions. That’s one one of their initial line of kits; basically a plastic copy of the resin Coree K1 ROKIT (Repbulic of Korea Indiginous Tank) tank kit from 1999. Just like most of Trumpeter’s initial line of tank kits were cheap knock offs of other companies’ kits.

It was a pretty horrible kit, too. I can’t remember seeing so much flash in a realtively modern kit-one of the very few I gave to a neighbor kid for demolition rather than finish.

To all who want to know what a Kit Groupie is:

Kit groupies buy the latest kit release(Star), opens the box, gets intimate with every detail of the kit, checks out every review and 99.5% of the time doesn’t build the kit. Just puts it on the shelf with the hundreds of other unbuilt kits(trophies) and goes on to the next superstar release. This makes the kit buyer a hoarder…or whore-der. I think you get the picture. You may know someone like that…Or YOU may be someone like that.

I appreciate those guys; they are the ones who have to have the latest and greatest kit; literally be the first kid on the block with the new toy. The part I like is when they realize they aren’t really interested in the kit, just infatuated with the buzz. They then offer the kits up on trade forums or for sale on eBay for a fraction of what they were worth when brand new.
