Hi everyone! I’m a new memeber so thi though the best thing i could do is to show how naive I am by ask were a good online retailer for stock sheet and shapes of styrene is. Im attempting my first scratch built models and the forsale signs at walmart work okay but are a little thin. Thanks to anyone who can help!
Depending on where you live, your local hobby shop should carry a selecton of Evergreen sheet, strip and round stock. For structural shapes, Plastruct has an externsive line available. You should be able to find these pretty easy on line. If not, I am sure one of our fellow styrene junkies could give yo the proper web address.

Try www.Squadron.com I believe they sell styrene sheets.
Check your yellow pages under “plastic suppliers”. Some will sell to the public. My local supplier has a cool remnant section w/ sheets of different thickness as well as many shapes. Sometimes this is cheaper than those small sheets at the hobby shops.

Builder’s materials warehouse’s stock massive thick sheets of the stuff as insulation material, they usually retail pretty cheap, check em out
If you’re going to be scratchbuilding, you’ll need several thicknesses of both sheet and strip styrene on hand. Evergreen also makes rod, tubing and angle stock. Plastruct also makes all kinds of structural stock, but one caution: If I recall correctly (someone please correct me if I’m wrong), Plastruct can’t be glued with ordinary model glues; you have to use super glue. All that stuff will be available at any good hobby shop or model railroad shop; often in their own little kiosks. One more thing: Get a clean small container of some sort (a baby food jar is ideal). As you make your own parts, you’ll inevitably have small to tiny bits and pieces of leftover plastic. DON’T THROW THEM AWAY, put them in the baby food jar. You’ll ultimately find some use for those “dibs and dabs” in a future subject, sometimes without even having to cut them to size or shape!
A good source of " freeby " material are junked refrigerators and freezers. The inside walls are usually about 1/16 inch material and the drawers are about 1/8 inch. This plastic material comes not only in white, but also in clear and smoked ( drawers and flapper doors ).[8D]

In answer to your query. Plastruct, and Evergreen, are better joined using Plastic Weld. It is a liquid glue, better applied with an old paintbrush. Just hold the joints together and let capillary action do the work. Although it dries quickly, it’s not as rapid as superglue.
