I need a Ki-84 scheme!!!!

Can anyone show me some interesting but easy to do Ki-84 Ia schemes? I’m building the 1:48 Hasegawa kit (pictures soon?) and I need some inspiration for a good scheme. I just built the Tamiya kit, and did a natural metal/green dappled aircraft. (pictures soon) Anyway, I 'm leaning toward either a Green/gray or green/natural metal aircraft, though a brown or silver one would be OK, too. just post a link to where the scheme is.

These may or may not help. I love the Ki-84.

Thanks!!! that’s the kind of stuff i’m looking for, but I want something a little more colorful.[:D]

Excellent job Rob. I have one still in the box for a very future project.

I like that scheme! is it the 1:32 or 1:48 kit? can anyone tell me where to get 1:48 decals for that scheme? (this doesn’t mean you guys can stop posting replies, though[;)][;)])

its a hesagawa 1/48 kit. i still have the photo eched parts if you know anybody that wants them

Hi Jaypack,
Try Eaglestrike Decals. They have several sheets you may like.

Jaypack,

Since you’re new in these here parts (in my best John Wayne voice), remember that the buying, selling, or trading of “stuff” on the forums is not allowed.

And that post with all the smileys…it’s annoying…kinda like pushing all the buttons on the elevator and then getting off.

Jeff

sorry about all that! I didn’t know. It wont happen again
[] (by the way…I deleted both of those posts.)

I have another question for you guys: what color was the ki-84 interior painted? I have heard people saying aotake, green, and silver. Can anyone tell me what the most common color was, and where to get it?

I painted mine olive drab with just a tint of black.

That’s a good question Jaypack. Again j-aircraft is the place to go for a ton of research - look in the faq section. I am currently building a frank too and struggled with this question myself. After going back and forth on what color to paint mine (of the three you listed) I finally decided to go with natural metal (silver). Actually, I was going to do green over the silver and chip it up until the last moment, but liked the silver look and decided to just dirty it up with a good wash.

My understanding is that towards the end of the war the ki-84 probably did have natural metal cockpit, with aotake being earlier war. Oh and where to get it? Others might have better ideas or suggestions, but I just used testors’ cheap gloss silver for mine. For aotake I hear you can do a nice job with first painting silver and then painting a second coat of a mix of tamiya clear green and blue, and for green I think nakajima green is what you are looking for, but might have to get something close (again j-aircraft has some suggestions).

Hope this helps and I look forward to seeing some progress pictures. Did you finally decide of a scheme? If you are interested, you might want to check out the japanese group build.

Leon

Sorry, I haven’t chosen a scheme yet, and I’m still waiting to borrow my friend’s digital camera so I can get some pics posted.Hopefully this will be very soon.[:D]
