I need a good aluminum dope simulation for WW I plane

I’m building a Neiuport 17 in Russian Service for a kit review for publication, and it will be accompanied by a couple of photos, so I have to make it look good. Aside from the pressures of no longer being used to building biplanes, this one, the new Eduard “Limited Edition” re-release of their earlier Profipac kit of the 17, calls for aluminum doped linen. What is good paint to use for simulating this? I know I’ve asked this quesiton, but I haven’t gotten a real response to it and I’m getting desperate. It seems that the MM Aluminum, not the Metalizer, but the regular enamel, just doesn’t seem to ever cure well enough to handle or decal or overcoat. I’ve thought of trying their Acrylic Aluminum again, adding some gray to it, but that MM acrylic aluminum has been awful in past attempts to use it, giving a transluscent finish without even thinning, and tending to draw to the edges. I’m out of ideas. Need help, guys.
Sorry it’s not on the painting room, but I just can’t get enough people over there to read the posts.

I think Floquil “Old Silver” would be close enough.

I agree; in fact, that’s what I used on my Testor’s Nieuport 17. It looks good to me. Gary

IIRC they had a discussion recently & there are some pretty innovative techniques.
