I haven’t done any modeling for quite sometime and recently I had this itch to build again. There’s 237 unbuilt kits in the stash and didn’t find any that interest me and I have to go to the LHS. It seems that the models in LHS are always more interesting than the ones in the stash.[:p]
i think we’re all a little crazy like that, i’ve got a right stash of kits myself, not put glue to plastic for quite a while but still spent over a hundred quid at a model show recently, (a bit of retail therapy methinks LoL).
best regards,
Greg
237 models in your stash? I’m lucky to find a LHS that has 37 models in the shelf, yet alone 237[:D].
Face it, we are all sick little puppies. We have an addiction. Mine is now the ebay/Greatmodels/Squadron/anyone who has a sale addiction. I must seek out everyday a kit on sale and give an excuse to buy it. My employer’s insurance pays for substance abuse programs. I wonder if I qualify?[:-^]
i can totally relate…i sit at work all day browsing online and ebay looking for reasons to buy a new kit…I have 13 ships and 4 planes to build, yet i still had a reason to bid on 4 more ships on ebay…its a good drug though[:D]
after i win an auction, i usually have my eyes looking for another auction…i do the victory dance when the model arrives at my door step…im like a young kid at christmas time, eagerly impatient to open the box and see my new toy…[:D]
I just recently moved 40+ unbuilt kits from our “office” down to our garage for storage. That doesn’t include the three moving boxes I have in the closet. We’re all a little crazy, but as long as my wife puts up with me…I’ll be fine. [:D]
I get griped at for buying a new kit when “you havent even finished the ones youve got” I am trieng a 12 step program but its not working. The local Hobby lobby has had some great sales; up to 50% off on all the plastic kits so I just go crazy. I am only up to about 25 kits so I am just a beginner but I am a fast learner.

If y’all have an addiction, then I think I have an addition on Speed. Not only do I have the same craving to buy these boxes of plastic, I then have the irresistible urge to alter them in ways that no kit should ever be altered. (Motions to sig pic below).
Unfortunately, my pocketbook rarely is able to keep up with these addictions. Maybe that’s why my stash only comprises about 10 kits… makes ya think…
LOL…buying new kits when there’s bucketloads of unbuilt kits in your stash? Never…it’ll never happen…
Yeah right…
My wife doesn’t even bother mentioning it any longer - as long as we can afford it, she’s cool with it. Besides, it keeps me off the streets and out of the pub.
IMO, buying and opening a new kit is almost the best part of this hobby. Finishing a kit and putting it on the shelf is the best for me. You almost have to buy a new kit because it could be a limited run model and you might end up paying too much for it on Ebay. Buy and save now or spend more later. That’s my thinking…
After the last Hobby Lobby sale that I wouldn’t buy anything else until I actually finished something. So this week I bought 2 kits. Never mind that I haven’t finished anything, heck I’ve barely done any work at all. Go figure. However I have reached the point that I’m ready to unload some of the stuff I don’t really want anymore (redundant kits, stuff in wrong scale, etc.).
Ebay is a too easy fix. I have bought so many kits there thinking I can’t pass on that deal it is soo good. But I forget someday I have to build all of these things.
