I know what future is ...BUT

I am having trouble applying the Future floor polish by airbrush. I have just started using it for the first time. Dipping canopies and other clear parts works great. When I try to spray it is a problem. Am I supposed to thin it? I am at about 10 psi on the gun. Light and easy spray pattern with 2 or three coats. Model paint is dry and clean. Poor results. It cleans off with ammonia and water so I haven’t screwed anything permanently. Don’t you wish you could do that to some paint jobs?

Any ideas on what might be going wrong?

I don’t thin Future when I spray, but I spray at higher pressure, try 15psi or even higher.

I don’t thin mine. I spray it at aroud 15-17 psi, from a relatively short distance, maybe 2 inches, in a very light coat. I build up 3 or 4 coats.

I’d had problems with it “marbling”… the surface texture looked rough, so that’s when I tried getting in closer and not spraying it so heavy.

Some folks like to brush paint it on, anI tried that on my last kit, but it just looked to heavy for my tastes.

Maybe some more detail on how the resulting surface was would help someone recognize dealing with the problem and offer suggestions?

I will admit I had to do 3 or 4 models until I got it like I thought it should be… I almost gave up on it.

I do thin Future before spraying. I thin it with wind screen wiper fluid (winter pre-mix, that has alcohol in it) I use a 75% 25% Future/wipers fluid mix.

I have also tried bruspainting, it works ok on small models but not on big models.

I don’t know what to say about the surface. One was a car the other an airplane. The car was painted with Testors flat blue and the plane was Model Master Aluminum. Both were a day or two dry.
