I just saw a model. GAWD, it looked like crap! It was the worst pile of ******** I’ve ever seen! How anybody could think the world would want to view ******* like that must be mental! Everything was wrong about the ****. Color, finish, gear, markings, everything! How the ***** ever got ***** to publish the build is beyond me. All I know is they really must be hurting for material.

Preceding post was a satire–entirely facetious, not meant to anger, offend, or single out any one, or group of, individuals. Said post reflects the unstated rivalry between two not-necessarily-opposing camps of genre modelers, some of whom cross over to the other forum and are genuinely nice guys, and extremely talented as well. Post’s author admits that he couldn’t build a decent-looking plane if his life depended on it, so everybody just chill, it’s all in good fun!
Policing one’s self is easy, often called self-control. It’s the policing of the entire community by a few members of the rank and file where the problems arise. Just like in George Orwell’s Animal Farm, “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”
I think I saw the model in question. Yeah, it was that bad. I wanted to comment to the builder that I appreciated his efforts but also pass along some constructive critism. Unfortunately I was on my way to an appointment and I didn’t have the time at the moment to do so…then I forgot all about it. Can’t remember where it was posted.
It is important to applaud the effort but also help the modeler improve with hints and suggestions made in a positive way so as to not destroy them from wanting to try again.

In all seriousness doog, are you sure? Have you ever tried to build a wingy thingy? Because having seen your armor and your rusted out Nova, I think you could at least do a decent build of any subject.
Well, probably–thank you for the nice kudo’s too! [:I] I actually have two built planes at my parent’s house–an F-14 and F-15. I just don’t have any interest in them really. ANd they take up way too much space in a display case. I can fit 6 tanks or cars where only 2 planes would fit.
