there are various methods, such as alclad laquer, ordinary kitchen foil etc.
An easy way to make bare metal is to use “metal” paint that you like, be it enamel or arcylic. After spraying you can polish with graphite powder (easily made with a lead pencel and a piece of sandpaper). This will give you a metallic sheen. -
Why substitute? it’s cheap, works nice etc. If your not sure how future is called in your region of the world, search the forum/visit swanny website (I believe it’s www.swannysmodels.com , I could be wrong)

no, I haven’t build this kit.

MiG’s rule!
Third Echelon, Is that the clear kit that you’re going to be doing? Tell us how it goes together. Unfortunately, my collection is a lacking Migs.
I like to use alclad for NMF. The tamiya mig goes together quite well no fit problems. I built this one OOB I decided to go with one of the camo schemes. This A/C was flown by the Russian pilot that shot down Joseph McConnell.

Hmmmm… model wishlist entery #254… Tamiya Mig 15. Ok… got it down.
would you care to enter it in the foreign migs GB?
Thanks to all for posting! RemcoGrob, I want to find a good Future substitute because in all my life I’ve never seen it anywhere in Panama. ridleusmc, it is the clear kit I ordered. I’ll keep posting to let u know how it goes! Tankmaster7, what’s Foreign MiGs GB? Well that’s all for now, thanks again!
well a group b. is when there is a certain topic for models and everyone builds something from that topic in a certain timeframe. check out the rules for mine in the group builds forum.
I also don’t live in the US and Future is not avaible under that name overhere as wel. But it’s sold under various different names in the world. It might be an idea to contact you local division of Jonhson and ask them!
Or have a look at :

If this doesn’t work then you could substitute is with a regular modelling glos coat, such as tamiya clear.
Tankmaster7, no sooner had I asked you about FMiGsGB that I read about it on your post. As soon as the kit gets here in a week I’ll let you now if I’ll be able to join your club. RemcoGrob, you’ve been most helpful. I think I’ve seen Pledge at the market next door…be right back.
…I think I got the right one. Let me get out my old B-17 test subject…
…Well, I guess I could pat myself on the back now…I NAILED IT! Someone should tell swannysmodels that Future is called Klaro in Latin America. Ecch… my B-17 smells like Country Garden Scent now!
Well, that someone should be you[:D]
Swanny is a very regular visitor of this forum, so just create a topic (“for swanny, info about future in latin america” is a clear header) and make contact with swanny.
Thanks, Remco, I’ll do just that.
Hey Andres, think you might be able to get me a picture of the stuff? Also, where do you buy this stuff? Names of stores?
Sure, no prob Swanny. I got it at the Riba/Smith supermarket chain, a major one down here. I seriously doubt R/S has a group out of Panama, though. Good for all us who live in Panama! [:D] By the way, how do you post a picture on the forum?
My MiG isn’t here yet… [banghead][banghead][banghead][banghead][banghead][banghead][banghead][banghead][banghead][banghead][banghead][banghead][banghead]
Okay, I’ll stop now. If it’s not here tomorrow I’ll have to wait at least until TUESDAY NEXT WEEK AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
[banghead][banghead][banghead][banghead][banghead][banghead][banghead][banghead][banghead][banghead][banghead][banghead][banghead]
To post a picture you nust first upload it to an online storage site like photobucket. I think this is all covered in the FAQ section of this site.
Okay, I take that back. Wednesday. If it’s not here tomorrow I’ll… I don’t know.[soapbox]
[#wstupid]
It’s HERE! All right, let’s get this over with:
-
Six total part trees, labled A,A,B,C,D,E; and three 1/4" diameter metal weights.
A: Fuselage, cockpit, landing gear. (medium gray plastic (MGP))
A: Fuselage, cockpit, landing gear. (clear plastic (CLP))
B: Wings, drop tanks, landing gear wheels. (MGP)
C: Pilot, engine mini-kit, dolly stand for rear fuselage to display engine. (MGP)
D: Canopy, gunsight, lights. (CLP)
E: Fuel tank (I think) (MGP) Only visible in clear version. Only tree with flash. -
Four decal options printed in two versions, one clear, one normal. The decals on this kit are absolutely gorgeous:
A: Red (Soviet) Airforce. #384, bare-metal w/big red thunderbolt on tail.
B: Chinese AF. #26100, camo w/ light gray underside
C: Chinese AF. #4115, bare-metal, red rear fuselage, red t-bolts on drop tanks.
D: North Korean AF. #079, bare-metal all the way.
The plane is surprisingly small, but it looks like a fun build. I’m trying to decide between aircrafts # 384 and 4115 Tanky, so if I post 384 its g’ bye F MiGs GB. If I post 4115, its a Go!!! (Those pretty red t-bolts are what’re making me stick to 384…) I don’t know what made Tamiya want to release a clear version of a ki you can open up, though
