I just... couldn't do it! (Ebay score?)

(Sigh) I had it all figured out. I was gonna build a Ju 635, basically a Do 335Z. I’d score a cheap Dragon 1/72 Do 335 offa Ebay, wait until the long-span B-4 was released, get one of those, and be well on my way to making another Luftwaffe siamese twin.

Heck, I even went so far as to actually get one off Ebay. I was perfectly fine until the day it finally showed up. I opened the box-

and couldn’t do it.

This kit is just TOO NICE! So many parts… and I DO need to make a straight Do 335, cause I like 'em that way, too… and… oh God… it came with photoetch, for Pete’s sake. PHOTOETCH! How could I butcher a kit this nice?

So, all my plans for a Do 335 Zwilling went out the window. Instead, I’m making a rockin’-awesome Do 335.

Eventually.

I’ll just find a few crappy Lindberhg kits or something to chop up for a Zwilling…

This was actually quite a good score off of Ebay. Two Dragon kits, both 1/72. A Do 335 and an He 219 A-0, both “Gold” kits (I think) with a small fret of photoetch parts. All this (and shipping) for $19. Not too shabby, IMO.

Nice ebay score. I will be looking forward to progress reports and the finished project.

This should be interesting either way. The He 219 was one of those kits I wouldn’t have bought if it wasn’t part of a two-fer deal. It’s bigger than I thought… and the blotchy paint scheme should be rather fun.

The Do 335 looks pretty nice, too- decent size, at least one engine (just took a quick look at the instructions), and parts a-plenty.

Hopefully nice builds all the way.

Ohhh… can’t wait to see that 219! I have one of the Tamiya 1/48’s, really a strange (but cool) looking bird.

Nice score Mike! [tup] I’m in the middle of building four Dragon Ar 234’s and I must say the details are amazing. I just wish the fit of the parts was as amazing as the detail [:(]. However, someone used to using as much putty as you do to splice wings together should have no problem.
