Know how some of tanks ex. Tiger(any oldertanks), now sit in museums, why do they paint over the original paint scheme that they had at the time??
Any help would be appreciated!

They have to get control of the rust situation would be my guess?[:D]
i was guessing that too… maybe theres another reason why?
In addition, it’s not like you can ride down to Home Depot and ask them to mix up a batch of dunkelgelb used in 1943. I doubt their budget will cover ordering 100,000 bottles of the correct Model Master color either.
sometimes they just want to represent the same type of vehicle in another theatre of a war, so on goes some new paint.
They may want to have a generic version,as they came from the factory. Then with the information boards they place in front of the tank, they would explain different theaters they were in and also have pictures to view.
A lot of these tanks and airplanes that come into a museum have to be restore due to there are in bad shape when they come into a museum. Some museum want the original crew and their colors that they painted them in,so a lot of resreach goes into a project like this in order to restore them to there original form. Some museums who get these tank may go to were the tank was found and paint them the colors that they were in that theater of operations.Digger
Sure you can Rob, I’ve done it! [(-D] I was going to paint my model room in a stylized 3-tone scheme, so I went down to Home Deplorable and had them mix up all three! Never actually got around to doing it though. Anybody want a gallon of each? [:D]
All right guys thanks for your help! [8D]
