Rather a certain big rig. I am wanting to build some models from the Mad Max movies, one of which is the Mack from Road Warrior. Is there a 1/25 kit out there of a Mack R-600 or a kit that is close? What would be closest match for the tanker trailer?
AMT did a Mack R-600 and it was re-issued a few years ago so should be fairly easy to find. Revell did a Beale tanker, its chrome plated but otherwise should be a good start for the tanker.

Will the R-685 work for this conversion? I have pretty much decided on the Texaco tanker. Although I would need to find a third axle somewhere. Also would need to find the cow catcher and Aussie interior. Any suggestions?

I used the AMT Mack with the green truck on box. the ‘cowcatcher’ was a simple scratchbuild as were the rear wheel mudguards. it’s not screen accurate and is still left hand drive.
Nice job, it may not be 100% accurate, but anyone who has seen the movie would recognize it.
For the original poster, the problem you will have using the Texaco trailer is it is round, not an eliptical trailer like in the movie. If that doesn’t bother you then it is a good choice being much easier to find and about half the price of the Beale tanker. Lindberg has reissued a tanker trailer too, it isn’t right either but it is eliptical at least, also pretty cheap, you can find it in a set with a Dodge L-700 tractor for $30-40.
I’ve also used Sourkrout’s several times and never had a bad experience, but I haven’t bought from him in about a year. With a small one man company like that, service can change very quickly if the get overwhelmed with outside issues.
